NASA Reveals the Deep Void Sound of Black Hole

People who have listened to a sound sample that NASA uploaded on Twitter have described it as scary and ethereally magnificent.

The Perseus galaxy cluster, located approximately 240 million light-years from Earth, is home to a black hole that has been sonified, according to a tweet from the US space agency.

    NASA’s perspective

According to NASA, the sound waves discovered there over two decades ago were “extracted and made audible” this year.

People were astounded that anything, much less what sounds like a creepy, guttural groan, could exit a black hole after watching the 34-second film, which erupted on social media.

The notion that there is no sound in space, however, is false, according to the organization. A galaxy cluster, on the other hand, “has abundant amounts of gas that encircle the hundreds or even thousands of galaxies inside it, providing a channel for the sound waves to traverse,” NASA added. Whereas most of the space is a vacuum with no medium for sound waves to pass through.

The film, which NASA referred to as a “Sound of Black Hole Remix,” was initially made available in early May to coincide with Black Hole Week. However, a tweet from the NASA exoplanets team on Sunday really got people’s attention, since the video had been seen more than 13 million times.

After 53 hours of observation, scientists with NASA’s Chandra X-Ray Observatory “found that pressure waves pushed out by the black hole generated ripples in the heated gas of the cluster that could be translated into a note,” which led to the discovery of the sound waves in 2003.

The frequency of that note, however, was too low for humans to hear since it was akin to a B-flat, which is around 57 octaves below the middle C note of a piano, according to NASA.

So, Chandra astronomers altered the audio and raised the frequency by 57 and 58 octaves. According to NASA, the frequencies are being heard 144 quadrillions and 288 quadrillion times higher than they were originally.

    Sonification Project chief’s views

The sonification project’s chief investigator, Kimberly Arcand, remarked that she leaped up in delight when she first heard the sound in late 2021, which she compared to “a lovely Hans Zimmer soundtrack with the melancholy level set at extremely high.”

So, Chandra astronomers altered the audio and raised the frequency by 57 and 58 octaves. According to NASA, the frequencies are being heard 144 quadrillions and 288 quadrillion times higher than they were initially.

The sonification project’s chief investigator, Kimberly Arcand, remarked that she leaped up in delight when she first heard the sound of a black hole in late 2021, which she compared to “a lovely Hans Zimmer soundtrack with the melancholy level set at extremely high.”

According to Chandra’s visualization scientist and emerging technologies lead, “It was such a fantastic picture of what was in my imagination.” She said that it also served as a “tipping point” for the sonification initiative as a whole since it “truly aroused people’s imaginations.”

It also suggests potential future study areas. It is “extremely intriguing” to think that there are supermassive black holes scattered around the cosmos that are “belching forth wonderful tunes,” continued Arcand.

The sound in NASA’s remix, according to experts, isn’t precisely what you’d hear if you were miraculously standing next to a black hole. According to Michael Smith, an astronomy professor at the University of Kent in England, “this sound of black hole” couldn’t be heard by humans since their ears aren’t “sensitive enough to be able to pick them up.” But if we magnified it, we would be able to hear them since they are present and are of the proper frequency, Smith added. He compared it to a radio, saying that when the sound is turned up, the level is higher and you can hear it.

According to Arcand, the sound of black holes developed during the coronavirus epidemic. She had been working on building 3D printable models to make it easier for those with low vision or no vision to access the X-ray light data that Chandra’s orbiting telescope had been collecting into photos. The epidemic made it challenging to remotely maintain such a program.

She then made the decision, together with several other colleagues, to try something novel: sonification, which is the conversion of astronomical data into sound. Arcand was “motivated to think differently” about the benefits of converting complicated data sets into music since the team included blind professionals.

Hillary Clinton Shares A Dance Picture In Support Of Finland’s PM

“Keep dancing,” former US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton tweeted recently, expressing her personal support for Finland Prime Minister Sanna Marin, whose penchant for partying has garnered international attention.

While still the secretary of state, Clinton’s post featured a picture of herself dancing at a packed bar on a trip to Colombia in 2012. Sanna Marin was encouraged to “Keep dancing, Sanna Marin.” as it came to an end.

Sanna Marin, the prime minister of Finland, instantly reacted and tweeted, “Thank you, @Hillary Clinton,” along with a heart emoji. The outpouring of support followed the recent disclosure of a video showing Sanna Marin dancing and having a good time with her pals.

Marin, a career politician whose ascent through the ranks of Finland’s center-left Social Democratic party appeared to be effortless, was the youngest elected leader in the world when she was elected prime minister at the age of 34.

At the age of 27, she presided over the council of Tampere, the third-largest city in the country. She gained notoriety for her no-nonsense leadership during a bizarre 10-hour debate regarding a high-speed tram project. (The tram project was ultimately approved after a long debate.)

Why is Sanna Marin making headlines?

After being seen partying in a leaked video, Sanna Marin, the prime minister of Finland, is receiving criticism. She and her companions, who include Finnish celebrities, can be seen dancing and singing in the clip, which is said to have been taken from social media. Opposition parties have criticized her, and one leader has called on her to submit to a drug test. Ms. Marin, 36, denied using narcotics, claiming that all she did was drink wine and party “in a boisterous way”

While some people, including Hillary Clinton, have backed the 36-year-old politician’s right to attend a private gathering with friends, detractors have claimed that it demonstrated unacceptable behavior for a prime minister. While, following criticism brought on by a video showing the 36-year-old partying, Finland’s prime leader recently made a vigorous defense of her professional record and her right to private life.

  • Spanish Drought Reveals Old Submerged “Spanish Stonehenge”

Spanish Drought Reveals Old Submerged “Spanish Stonehenge”

While Spain goes through the country’s worst drought in decades, the situation there is leaving the world baffled. The water level dropped by around 28%. However, this lead to a fascinating discovery that no one could’ve predicted or foreseen.

Near the corners of the Valdecanas Reservoir in the Central Province of Caceres, Archaeologists observed a neolithic stone circle structure. The stones have been believed to have existed since 5000 BC.

The stone structure is called “Spanish Stonehenge”, officially came named the “Dolmen of Guadalperal”.

The Structure of The “Spanish Stonehenge”

The Spanish Stonehenge is a structure of vertically arranged stones mounted on a horizontal boulder. Some suspect the structure is meant to be Tombs as human remains have been found in several such structures. To a tourist moving about, these stones might just look like just a set of haphazardly scattered stones.

Another interesting fact is that this Structure was previously discovered by German Archaeologist Hugo Obermaier way back in 1926; due to floods and other causes, the structure was yet again submerged only to be reemerged now.

How are the Locals seeing it?

The drought-stricken Locals of the area find this as an opportunity for tourist attraction. While someone who owns a boat thinks they could use their boat to take tourists near the Dolmen, some locals also think shifting the Stone Structure into a Local Museum is the correct option. A petition has been filed on Change.org for the transfer which currently has over 40,000 signatures.

The stone structure, said to have existed since 5000 BC, is deteriorating as the rock has become porous and will further have more damaged if not given the proper care and redevelopment.

“It’s a surprise, it’s a rare opportunity to be able to access it,” says archaeologist Enrique Cedillo from Madrid’s Comp.

  • Ukraine Launches Crowdfunding Campaign “Buy Me A Fighter Jet”

Ukraine Launches Crowdfunding Campaign “Buy Me A Fighter Jet”

After the conflict between Russia and Ukraine started in February, Ukrainian president Zelensky and the citizens are starting to fight for their country. And for defending their country they seek help from the outside world, at first, they raise funds from foreign aid and then they sell NFTs. Now they have launched a crowdfunding campaign “ Buy Me A Fighter Jet” program. Business Insider first reported a campaign featuring a Ukrainian pilot standing in front of a badly damaged jet, saying buy me a fighter jet. “It will help me to protect my sky filled with Russian planes that bomb my land, kill my friends, and destroy our homes and everything I have ever known.”

What does the campaign website ask?

The website asks about the very few types of fighter jets that Ukrainian pilots need. They are asking for Russian aircraft such as Su-22, Su-25, Su-27, Su-24, and MiG-29. It also quoted the pilots would be able to quickly master the American-made F15, F16, and F18. The website estimated the cost of one aircraft to be around $25 million.

Earlier, the Ukrainian military, said that they have been asking NATO to close the Ukrainian skies since the beginning of the invasion on February 24. If not at least provide them with additional fighter jets to match the Russian air force. But the governments of the world are afraid of escalation of the situation and the conflict may spread beyond Ukraine.

The campaign website invites people who are interested in assisting and could email for help finding, buying, and transferring a fighter jet to the country’s air force. Help with technical and legal issues will be provided, it says. There doesn’t appear to be an opportunity for individuals to make smaller donations. As of Sunday, Ukraine had received nearly $1 billion in help from companies and organizations. Bloomberg Philanthropies and Open Society Foundation donated $10 million and $25 million respectively. The IKEA Foundation donated $22 million, and the Red Cross donated $12 million.

Among celebrities who have donated, Actors Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively each funded $1 million via the United Nations’ refugee agency. Moreover, actors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, who was born in Ukraine, raised over $30 million, and Bethenny Frankel raised $85 million also.

World’s First NFT War History Museum Raised $600,000 to Rebuild Destroyed Ukraine

NFT (non-fungible token) is an interchangeable unit of data on the blockchain. It can be sold or traded but can not be shared associated with media and the unique nature of each token. In 2020, the NFT market has increased like a wildfire, everybody’s gone crazy about it. After Zukarburg fished METAverse and launched a Web 3 era NFT trading has gone over 91.8 million dollars.

However, NFTs have found a new form of utility in the form of “war bonds,” which we haven’t seen before, given Russia’s sudden and impulsive decision of the country. The money raised through NFTs can be used to help aid the country’s defense and help Ukraine rebuild its cultural infrastructure.

The government aims to use this money to rebuild museums, theaters, and other cultural institutions in Ukraine that were destroyed by the Russian invasion. The museum raised the sum on the first day of the sale of the virtual exhibits. The amount raised will be donated to a cryptocurrency fund set up by KUNA (Ukrainian Cryptocurrency Exchange) to support the Ukrainian army and digital cyber resistance.

What Brings Ukraine Into NFT Sale?

Ukraine has received over $100 million in crypto donations since the Russian seizure According to Merkle. The Ukraine Ministry of Digital Transformation created its website in partnership with FTX, Kuna to accept donations, which features crypto donations prominently.

In an email “The NFTs are meant to document the war through artwork that features rubble and destruction, Ukrainian soldiers, fires burning, and the Ukrainian flag,” said the ministry of digital transformation, Ukraine

The art depicted in the NFTs tells the story of Russia’s Seizure of the country, illustrating the wreckage of buildings, fallen soldiers, and burning flags – all displayed as NFTs to solemnize the events of the previous two months since the tension began in February. An NFT includes real news published by an official source and an illustration drawn by a Ukrainian artist.

To conserve the history of the events, the NFTs will be minted chronologically. Additionally, Ukrainian artists will use their art skills to showcase how the war is perceived by the population of Ukraine – from the beginning until the final moments of the  ClashIn addition to raising awareness and maintaining historical records, the Metahistory Museum will also work with other ongoing initiatives to collect donations for supporting the Ukrainian military and citizens.

  • Eleanor Roosevelt, Youth for Human Rights in Women’s History Month

Eleanor Roosevelt, Youth for Human Rights in Women’s History Month

In Women’s History Month, Youth for Human Rights is celebrating Eleanor Roosevelt given the credit for laying the foundation for human and civil rights, as well as declared as the international global standard for human rights today.

Mrs. Roosevelt lobbied for the United States to join the United Nation, and she later became the country’s first representative. She was the first head of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, and she oversaw the development and ratification of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations in 1948.

    Women and Civil Rights

Eleanor Roosevelt, an advocate, and pioneer for both women’s and civil rights established regular White House news conferences for female correspondents. Newspapers and wire agencies that did not previously employ women were pushed to do so in order to have a representative present at the White House in the event of breaking news. Mrs. Roosevelt is not only a supporter of female journalists, but she was one herself. She began writing a daily syndicated newspaper column called “My Day” in 1936.

    Conference on Human Welfare

Eleanor Roosevelt confidently spoke in support of racial rights. At a meeting on human welfare in 1938, Whites and Blacks openly mixed with one another. When Birmingham City Commissioner Bull Conner ordered the conference to be segregated, it was done by segregating black people on one side and white people on the other. Mrs. Roosevelt sat with the African Americans on the side, and a police officer tapped her on the shoulder and instructed her to get up. Mrs. Roosevelt slid her folding chair between the black and white portions of the auditorium.

When the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) refused to let Marian Anderson, a famed African American in a free concert, perform in Constitution Hall due to her skin color, Roosevelt resigned her membership in the DAR and organized a free concert at the Lincoln Memorial for 75,000 people. This was the Memorial’s debut concert, and it made a powerful political statement in 1939. The performance was opened by Harold LeClair Ickes, the then-Secretary of the Interior, who gave a stirring address against discrimination. Roosevelt was named chair of President John F. Kennedy’s Commission on the Status of Women in 1961, and she worked on it until shortly before her death.
