LG Advances 5G Vehicle Connectivity with Next-Gen Telematics

From a peak speed perspective, 5G is 100 times faster than 4G.  It means the time your 2GB movie took to download with 4G the same could have been downloaded 100 times over a 5G network. The same speed will go to a connected car when it comes to the amount of data that will need to be shared.

According to market research firm Strategy Analytics, by 2026 approximately 67 million new vehicles worldwide will be equipped with telematics capabilities. Telematics 5G communications modules, introduced only last year, are expected to account for more than 25 percent of the total vehicle telematics market by 2026.

With an advanced Wi-Fi connection, it will take 230 days to transfer a week-worth of data from a self-driving car. – Dr. Joy Laskar, CTO of Maja Systems.

    LG Stepping Towards Industry 4.0

Such realization was enough for LG Electronic to step into the evolutionary investment. LG continues to raise the ante in the automotive connectivity market, market with recent deals to supply 5G telematics solutions to a premium European automaker. With its highly-evolved and wide-ranging core technologies, LG has already secured a competitive advantage in 5G standards, accounting for about 10 percent of global 5G standard patent approvals and ranked second globally.

From vehicle-to-everything (V2X) systems to integrated hardware and software packages and in-vehicle communications gateways, LG’s cutting-edge 5G telematics innovations deliver a new level of on-road connectivity and safety. An essential component in autonomous vehicles, V2X technologies enable vehicles to communicate in real-time with other vehicles, nearby pedestrians and infrastructure to create a safer environment for all.

    5G Makes Life Good

Fast approaching the threshold for Society of Autonomous Engineers’ Level 4 in which autonomous vehicles no longer require human interaction for operation, LG’s 5G-V2X technology delivers more consistent vehicle data transmission speeds. Faster, more stable communications mean vehicles can recognize and respond to a variety of road conditions and driving situations instantaneously while the high-precision positioning technology, known as Advanced Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), can pinpoint a vehicle’s exact location to within 40 centimeters even when traveling at high speeds.

Utilizing Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) technology, LG’s solutions simultaneously support connected car and autonomous driving functionalities, enabling vehicle occupants to enjoy entertainment services, convenient functions and enhanced safety. The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 16* 5G module boasts significantly improved performance and more reliable connections. What’s more, the smart, flat antenna allows automakers to maintain the aerodynamic lines of their designs which would be impossible with traditional “shark fin” antennas.

According to Eun Seok-hyun, president of the LG Vehicle Component Solutions Company, with solutions that are extremely easy to implement in various vehicle models thanks to their embedded modular design, LG’s telematics hardware and software systems offer an unmatched level of flexibility for manufacturers and diverse services for end-users.

A trusted partner to automakers worldwide, LG is helping to create a safer, better future on the world’s roads with its growing portfolio of advanced mobility innovations, said Seok-hyun.

ST Company, CompTIA, Nokia Advancing a Tech Safe World

ST Company, an engineering aerospace, defense, and technology company is showcasing its enormous capabilities in the Singapore Airshow Exhibit Hall, with more than 2000 sq m dedicated to the three key sectors: aviation, defense, and a so-anointed smart city.

Ravinder Singh, Group COO for technology and innovation at ST Engineering expressed that they are committed to pushing forward and continuously innovating to solve real-world problems. ST Engineering is embarking on a pilot program to test the autonomous unidentified aircraft used for delivery of packages weighing up to 7kg to vessels in the busy Singapore Port.

Nokia proclaimed that it has signed a contract with 450connect, a collaborative venture-backed by German companies from the energy and water sectors, to construct its nationwide LTE450 radio network. LTE450 technology is ideally served to achieve a vast area coverage and perform services such as voice and machine-machine communications. Dirk Lewandowski, the vice president of Nokia Enterprise said, “the task of digitalization of Germany’s critical infrastructure is of enormous strategic importance.”

Assembling the Technology for a safer zone

The CompTIA Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (CompTIA ISAO) and the Information technology- Information Sharing and Analysis Center. (IT-ISAC) asked the companies to take immediate measures to review and if needed to upgrade their cybersecurity defenses and to equip for the conceivable consequences of a nation-state financed cyber-attack.

Nevertheless, Cyber Terrorism is a growing threat, and governments are requested to take serious actions against it. The Israelis are living in fear after Iranian hackers stole their private details, including their sexual orientation and their HIV status using an LGBTQ-friendly, dating site, Atraf. Victims might encounter devastating and distorting consequences if the information is leaked.

Technology is too hard to keep under control resulting in absolutely dangerous outcomes.

    Demand for 5G Network

Rovshan Rustamov, the Deputy Manager of Digital Development and Transport proclaimed that the demand for an embedded SIM (eSIM) technology is rising in Azerbaijan. The deputy minister noted that the concept paper including the list ensuring the implementation, standards and frequency distribution has already been prepared for the enforcement of the 5G network in Azerbaijan.

Rustamov said, “today we see that these technologies are in demand in the country’s market, and work is underway in this direction.”

However, the eSIM technology is an alternative to physical SIM Cards, which are embedded in the phones at the very production stage. The stored data can also be overwritten.
