Future of Education: Khan Academy’s Khanmigo AI!

There have been countless discussions about incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into the classroom among educators and subject matter specialists. While others are suspicious of how it can encourage cheating and produce false results, Khan Academy sees the benefits. Khan Academy introduces Khanmigo, an AI instructor.

The AI will be tested by more than 8,000 teachers and students. This AI-powered tool attempts to provide kids with tailored coaching and keep them interested with interactive elements. Khanmigo, which was first introduced in March to just 800 educators and students.

Khanmigo enables students to chat with a growing number of AI-powered historical figures, including Martin Luther King Jr., and Cleopatra, as well as fictional characters like Hamlet and Winnie the Pooh.

    The Technical Benefits

According to Kristen DiCerbo, chief learning officer at Khan Academy, who spoke to CNN, Khanmigo helps with a problem she has personally observed while observing a classroom in Arizona: when children learn something new, they frequently need specialized attention —more aid than one teacher can offer all at once.

During a Khanmigo technology presentation for CNN, DiCerbo spoke with an AI-powered Dorothy from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” and described how users can assess Khanmigo’s responses in real-time and provide feedback if and when Khanmigo makes mistakes.

Students can message the chatbot with questions or prompts like “I’d love to meet Christopher Columbus and the Khanmigo will talk as the personality, in turn giving history lessons.

    More on Khanmigo

Khanmigo is equipped with knowledge going from history to current affairs. Khan Academy used OpenAI’s GPT-4 to create Khanmigo.

In order to maintain Khanmigo’s positive tone and avoid providing students with the solution to their problems, the firm also put in place guardrails.

A writing coach to help students build narratives is one of Khanmigo’s features, along with individualized assistance for resolving math, science, and humanities difficulties, a debate tool covering subjects like student debt cancellation and AI’s effect on the job market, and a tool for generating arguments. Additionally, it gives pupils the extraordinary chance to communicate with AI-powered historical and literary personalities.

    Concerns

However, worries have been expressed over the potential for the chatbot tutor to be used as a means of cheating in the classroom. According to detractors, the AI’s speedy production of original replies can encourage pupils to plagiarize or provide false information.

Additionally, despite the chatbot tutor’s occasionally comically erroneous responses, it offers students the chance to examine information critically and distinguish between correct and incorrect answers. To enhance analytical abilities and build a deeper comprehension of the subject matter, critical thinking is crucial.

  • Man’s Best Friend! Research: Dogs Have Genes To Cure Cancer!

Man’s Best Friend! Research: Dogs Have Genes To Cure Cancer!

The latest study identifies particular genes in dogs that hold the potential to cure cancer. The largest-ever genome sequencing research of canine tumors was carried out by a group from the Broad Institute at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard University, and the University of Georgia.

To uncover the genetic abnormalities causing canine malignancies, the study, which was published in the journal Scientific Reports, analyzed tumor samples and real-world clinical genomic data from 671 domestic dogs diagnosed with cancer throughout the US.

    Analyzing Genetic Data

Small molecule medications that have previously been licensed for use on cancer patients in humans can also target several of these hotspots. As a result, patients with canine cancer will have easier access to highly efficient precision therapies that can supplement or replace more conventional, one-size-fits-all treatment modalities like chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery.

Furthermore, the genetic information from canine tumors can also hasten the creation of precise cancer treatments for people. Additionally, the results revealed several previously unknown mutation hotspots in canine malignancies. Proving their capacity to accurately determine whether a tumor is somatic or germline based only on tumor tissue.

“This study provides the most comprehensive genomic sequencing data on canine cancers, including several previously unsequenced types, and serves as a much-needed resource for comparative oncology,” said Shaying Zhao, a professor at the University of Georgia and a co-author of the study.

More than 42,000 genetic alterations from 671 dogs of 96 different breeds were analyzed by the researchers among 23 major tumor forms.

    Targeted Tumors

The study’s researchers also found that canine malignancies and human tumors have eight mutational hotspots in oncogenes such as PIK3CA, KRAS, NRAS, BRAF, KIT, and EGFR. The majority of the genetic hotspots in dogs may be treated with small-molecule therapies that are licensed for use in humans, and information on canine cancer can be utilized to expedite the development of novel cancer medications for humans.

  • SpaceX’s Euclid Space Telescope To Explore 36% of The Sky And Dark Regions

SpaceX’s Euclid Space Telescope To Explore 36% of The Sky And Dark Regions

At 11:12 a.m. ET on Saturday, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying the Euclid Space Telescope
lifted off from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The mission was long awaited by
several astronomy enthusiasts as it has the potential to explore several mysteries, theories, and
    questions.

    The Telescope

The four-foot-diameter, 1.2-meter-diameter telescope has begun a month-long voyage to the sun-
Earth Lagrange point L2, which is around 1 million miles (1.6 million kilometers) from Earth
and also serves as the home of NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope. Euclid will follow Earth
as it revolves around the sun.

Euclid will spend two months testing and calibrating its equipment, a visible light camera and a
near-infrared camera/spectrometer, after entering orbit. Then, over the following six years, it will
    observe one-third of the sky.

Over the course of its six-year mission, the Euclid telescope will survey 36% of the sky, and to
examine such a big region, the telescope has an extremely broad field of vision.

“Euclid is coming at a really interesting time in the history of cosmology,” said Jason Rhodes, a
physicist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory who leads Euclid’s U.S. science team. “We are
entering a time when Euclid is going to be great at answering questions that are just now
emerging. And I am certain that Euclid is going to be fantastic for answering questions we
    haven’t even thought of.”

    A Wider Horizon!

The spaceship won’t be the only one gazing into the universe’s dark recesses. However,
astronomers will utilize Euclid to scan large swaths of the extragalactic sky at once, in contrast to
the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes, which concentrate intently on one area of the sky
    at a time.

Euclid will image the universe’s structure around one billion years after the Big Bang in three of
the locations it records, going even further back in time. Before arriving at the second Lagrange
Point, which is a stable hovering location around 1.5 million kilometers (about 930,000 miles)
from Earth, Euclid will spend about one month journeying through space.

  • World Philosophy Day 2022- 5 Books to Read to Grow Your Mind

World Philosophy Day 2022- 5 Books to Read to Grow Your Mind

Have you ever said something profoundly poetic and beautiful, and then that one annoying person goes “Don’t hit me with that philosophy now”? (extremely irritating.) Or you read a poem written by someone unknown, and it just changed the way you look at this world and are in this little poetic bubble of your own with that line? Or you just sit in your window on a beautiful rainy day, listening to some music, and just think about how little droplets fall from the sky and the strangers walking by. Each having a story of their own, working and functioning all alone. If yes, you have questioned the philosophy of life multiple times. For the thousands of questioning minds of the world, we have World Philosophy Day.

Since the beginning of civilization, there have always been those who have been interested in learning more about the fundamental issues surrounding existence. The earliest indications of philosophical ideas and the search for wisdom emerged from their desire to study different facets of life in order to achieve deeper knowledge.

    How Did It Begin?

Our current world has undoubtedly been shaped by philosophy, and the societies of our future world will also be shaped by it. Therefore, it is only right that World Philosophy Day was officially established by UNESCO in 2005.

The Records of the General Conference, 33rd session, Paris, 2005, were released by UNESCO in a 726-page multilingual (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish) program and conference document in 2007. The declaration of World Philosophy Day was made at this time.

World Philosophy Day encourages the growth of rational, independent thought, which leads to a better understanding of the world and promotes tolerance and peace.

    Purpose And Theme

World Philosophy Day 2022 carries the theme- The Art of Happiness with Epicurus and Friends. The theme revolves around Epicurus’ view of happiness and how one would inherit it. Through his words, he has expressed obtaining happiness even in the most miserable situations- instead of dwelling in pain, one should recollect moments that once made them the happiest.

In the history of philosophy and science, Epicurus is regarded as a key figure. He made the case that we should only base our beliefs on logic and empirical evidence, and he advanced the scientific theory of atomism.

“Pleasure is our first and kindred good. It is the starting point of every choice and of every aversion, and to it, we always come back, inasmuch as we make feeling the rule by which to judge of every good thing.”

Since World Philosophy Day 2022 has a theme related to Epicurus and his write-ups and meaningful words, here are five books to read on the occasion of World Philosophy Day.

    1. Ethics- Benedict De Spinoza

This was written by Benedict de Spinoza during the Age of Enlightenment. Due to its discussion of the foundations of rationality, Ethics predominated among the several prominent philosophy books that were produced at the time. Even if we have advanced past that, this school of thought’s new ideas can be introduced through ethics.

    1. Medications- Marcus Aurelius

The book concentrates on the innermost thoughts of the most powerful man on earth, who gives himself self-advice on how to fulfill his duties and obligations as a result of his position. These activities were created to help him become strong, patient, kind, giving, and modest in the face of whatever challenges he would encounter.

    1. Letters From A Stoic- Seneca

Seneca was a powerful and kind man in Rome- the kind of guy people go to for advice. Fortunately, a lot of his advice is contained in the letters that are included in this book. The letters themselves logical next step on how to deal with a variety of issues, including education, riches, success, failure, and bereavement.

    1. Nicomachean Ethics- Aristotle

Aristotle discusses the foundation of all Aristotelian ethics in this book. To put it another way, this book provides the ethical principles that serve as the cornerstone of virtually all of western civilization.

    1. On The Genealogy of Morals- Friedrich Nietzche

In this book, the author elaborates on the obscure proverbs he mentions in Beyond Good and Evil and provides a morality discussion in a book that is easier to understand than many of his earlier works.

Reading a philosophy book takes some time because it gives you a lot of information and raises a lot of questions. This World Philosophy Day 2022, You should take your time reading many of these philosophy texts, watch a few adaptations of philosophical movies, and go over those philosophical quotes and sayings. Additionally, your mind will continue to grow as you read.

  • International Dog Day: Use Your Voice As A True Dog Lover

International Dog Day: Use Your Voice As A True Dog Lover

Imagine you have had a long day. You are drained out of all your energy. You climb up the stairs to your house and open the door. And a huge ball of fluff and excitement tackles you being ‘oh so happy seeing you have finally returned.’ And yet, you still have a pile of clothes in the hall. But who cares?  Having a little dog eagerly waiting for you makes one look forward to the rest of the day. Just like all the dog lovers look forward to International Dog Day on 26th August of every year!

Every year on the 26th of August, we celebrate International Dog Day in honor and adoration of these lovely four-legged sweet creatures.

    Why This Day?

International Dog Day was first celebrated in 2004 by animal welfare activist and pet lifestyle expert Colleen Paige. August 26th as a date is special to her as the activist’s family welcomed their first dog “Sheltie” on this very day. Colleen Paige says that the day is to “support all breeds and varieties of dogs.”

Colleen Paige also encourages people to say no to the purchase of dogs, as this leads to illegal and forceful breeding of dogs which is harmful to those innocent creatures. Adoption from ethical Rescue Homes is the way to go if one wants to get a dog.

Our mission is to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year and acknowledge family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort,” says the official website of International Dog Day.

    Why Adopt Dogs?

By adopting and not “buying” a dog, you are giving a deserving animal another chance at happiness. Unfortunately, these dogs were abandoned or abused by their previous undeserving owners. Such incidents shook up these loving dogs from the inside. Some of these dogs reduce into their own shell and find it hard to trust new people.

With a pinch of love and care, you will save their lives and get a cheerful and exciting ball of energy who will love you unconditionally.

You also will be fighting against the cruel practice of breeding that traps these dogs and forces them to mate and produce. They are kept in filthy spaces where no one cares about them and are treated with nothing but cruelty.

This International Dog Day, make sure you give a new and loving life to a cute little puppy.

How To Play Your Own Part?

In case you come across a stray dog who looks like it is in need of help- injured, hungry, vailing; The best thing to do for a stray dog is to capture them and provide medical care that includes spaying or neuter procedures, vaccines, and finding the stray a home. However, if you are clueless about the resources and places this can be possible, One of International Dog Day’s prime focuses is to help all the dogs out there.

    • Call a local Animal Rescue organization
    • Contact NGOs and activists in case you are observing abuse of any kind
    • Connect with dog shelters and NGOs

Street dogs, also known as stray dogs, are prevalent in certain communities, which can cause a range of issues, including the spread of contagious diseases, dog bites, and pet overpopulation. It is important to contact authorities to treat these dogs so that there is no danger to the ones around. These dogs mean no harm to any person. The surroundings they are living in, are probably where they were born.

But it is important for them to be treated and vaccinated for overall sanitation and well-being.

    Animal Activists and Rights Awareness

Animal rights activists are fighting for animals in a number of ways and in almost every region where animals are present. Regardless of the field, these activists seem to have some similar objectives and philosophies.

Animal rights activists believe that animals should be given more rights than they now possess and should be treated with respect. Consequently, activists devote their efforts to working to ensure that animals have respect and rights. Some activists participate in rallies and demonstrations that employ radical strategies that could lead to legal action.

If you are familiar with groups of Animal Activists, joining them and working for the well-being of animals is a noble deed to do. International Dog Day works with multiple rescue teams and activists to employ these practices and rights as soon as possible to every innocent creature living today.

If you wish to be one, here are some ways to get started

15 Amazing Facts about House of the Dragon

We last traveled to Westeros for the dramatic season 8 finale of Game of Thrones three years ago. Since then, we have missed this show every single day save one. Fans of “Game of Thrones,” it’s time to put your trust issues from season 8 aside and get back to Westeros for another grueling adventure! Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon is a brand-new HBO spinoff! It promises to include everything of the previous series’ rich lore in addition to an increased CGI dragon budget.

Based on the intriguing Fire & Blood novel by George R.R. Martin, House of the Dragon tells the tale of the Targaryen dynasty.

It’s a tragic tale with elements of a dragon fable and one of a family at war. It has the same setting, the same sources of inspiration, and a tone as Game of Thrones, but it also stands alone as a show with a distinct plot.

As with any good high fantasy story, your game of thrones prequel experience will most certainly benefit from some sci-fi research. Here’s all you need to know before watching to avoid frequent misunderstandings like “Why are all of these blonde folks so sad?” or “Wait, are they related?”

Here are 15 interesting facts about the House of the Dragon…

    1. This was not the first Game of Thrones spinoff concept

Plans for a Game of Thrones sequel series began in 2018 with a show called Bloodmoon.

Bloodmoon was created by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Naomi Watts and Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things) were in the cast, and they even filmed a pilot.

However, George R.R Martin had minimal involvement in the production, which was set on a historical period only referenced in passing in his books, and after the pilot was completed, HBO decided not to make it into a series.

    2. Prepare to Meet the Targaryens

Game of Thrones exposed spectators to multiple Westeros noble families, but House of the Dragon focuses on one of them: the Targaryen dynasty, ancestors of the formidable Daenerys.

    3. The Budget

The budget for each episode of House of the Dragon is $20 million, for a total of $200 million for the entire prequel series. In comparison to Game of Thrones, which costs over $100 million every season, it is one of HBO’s most expensive series.

    4. More Game of Thrones spin-off programs are on the way

It may not yet be on the scale of the Marvel Universe, but if you like Game of Thrones, there should be plenty of follow-up episodes in the next five years.

    5. The Schedules

In addition to the fresh casts, the series has various timelines, with actors playing younger and older versions of the same characters. The teaser and trailer included both young and old Rhaenyra in various scenes.

    6. The dragons featured in the series

In the Game of Thrones prequel series, there will be a total of 17 dragons.

    7. The Iron Throne is undeniably present, having been erected by Aegon, the first Targaryen monarch. Many Games of Thrones characters wondered aloud about Aegon and his two sister-wives, Rhaenys and Visenya, who were the first generation of Targaryens to arrive in Westeros and (literally) set things beginning.

    8. Adapted from a true story

Despite drawing inspiration from George RR Martin’s 2018 novel Fire & Blood, the series is based on a genuine incident from the English Civil War.

    9. Births are the new marriages

Milly Alcock plays Rhaenyra Targaryen, while Emily Carey plays Alicent Hightower.

If marriages signaled to Game of Thrones fans that something momentous was on the way, babies have a similar effect in House of the Dragon.

    10. The cast has a lot of work to do with the wigs and clothes

Because of the legendary Targaryen’s long white hair, many of the cast members had to wear wigs on production.

Matt Smith, a confessed fidgeter, remarked that if he were the ruler of Westeros, he would change one thing on the show.

“I’d let them color their hair.” “The wigs were a hassle,” he admitted at Comic-Con.

    11. Heroes and villains aren’t always so obvious

Ser Criston Cole is played by Fabien Frankel.

House of the Dragon’s cast and creators believe their series is less certain of its heroes and villains than Game of Thrones.

    12. The princess and prince battle with dragons, so spectators will be enthralled by the action on the screen.

    13. Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen is a horse and dragon rider who aspires to be Westeros’ first governing Queen. Emma D’Arcy will play the princess, and Milly Alcock will play her as a child.

    14. Paddy Considine will play Princess Rhaenyra’s father, King Viserys I Targaryen.

    15. Princess Rhaenyra’s uncle is Daemon Targaryen. He is the king’s younger brother and heir apparent. Matt Smith, who played Prince Philip in the first season of The Crown, will play this character.

When will the House of the Dragon finale air on HBO?

We’re excited to see how House of the Dragon concludes. When will HBO broadcast the House of the Dragon finale?

The first episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel is now available on HBO and HBO Max. We learned why Viserys chose his daughter to be his heir, even though not everyone supports a woman on the Iron Throne.

We’re now ready to see what happens next. There’s still a lot of drama to come. In reality, it has only recently begun. With ten episodes scheduled to air, you’ll want to be able to binge-watch them all to discover how they all fit together.

HBO produces new programming every week. The network will not change that. With 10 episodes, we can figure out when the House of the Dragon Season 1 finale will air. We’ll have to wait until Sunday, October 23.
