Scientists Found 830 Million Years Old Living Microbes Inside A Salt Rock

A team of scientists from West Virginia University found microorganisms from a Browne Formation salt rock sample which is 830 million years old. The team researched Neoproterozoic halite using non-invasive optical methods. The non-invasive optical method allows the halite to stay intact during the study and eliminates the risk of contamination by modern organisms. The analysis helps researchers to look into past life and environments.

    How did they find it?

Scientists test a sample from the Browne Formation of central Australia salt rock. The rock was drilled by the Geological Survey of Western Australia in 1997. The scientists used a razor blade to split the halite into 1 to 2-millimeter pieces. They used transmitted light petrography to identify halite crystals and fluid that was trapped when the halite crystals formed.

Scientists are able to see what is inside the individual fluid inclusions, including microorganisms such as bacteria, algae, and fungi. After many tests and studies, they said some of these million years old microbes could still be alive. The study was published in the scientific journal of the Geological Society of America.

How could this be helpful to explore Mars?

Now, after the team of scientists said the organisms are still alive, the fluid inclusions worked as microhabitats for them. A separate study that took place in 2002 showed that microorganisms from rock salt formations 250 million years old can survive exposure to radiation. They couldn’t find life in other samples older than this. But undergoing metabolic changes and using organic and dead cells as sources of nutrients, these organisms can survive even the harshest conditions in the fluid inclusion for many years.

The researchers said that their findings could have implications for research on Mars, which has structurally similar to the Browne Formation in Australia.

“This discovery shows that microorganisms from saline depositional environments can remain well preserved in halite for hundreds of millions of years and can be detected in situ with optical methods alone,”– the paper published in Geology.

This finding and study show that microorganisms from saline depositional environments can continue to exist well preserved in halite for hundreds of millions of years and can be detected in situ with optical methods alone. This study also shows the search for life in both terrestrial and extraterrestrial chemical sedimentary rocks also can succeed in various ways.

Doctor Warns Of Dangerous Pregnancy Test TikTok “Trend”

Trends on TikTok come and go, ranging from educational and inspirational to silly or funny. Most of them are even addictive, but the downside of social media is that any trend or challenge is accepted almost immediately to garner reactions, comments, or followers, regardless of the dangers involved.

It is feasible that a few short videos of the platform are circulating on the Internet that spread a number of misleading wrong information. This can end up being elaborate if the fashion becomes popular. A particularly risky and misleading exercise has gone viral where pregnancy test kits have been used with methods that should not be encouraged. Doctors have now warned it is dangerous to practice.

Plan B in the pregnancy test?

On TikTok, a video of someone cutting up a pregnancy test kit to reveal a “tablet” withinside went viral. The original poster for the video added the caption “Plan B in the pregnancy test” with a surprised emoji, suggesting an emergency contraceptive tablet was hidden inside the plastic test kit.

However, this is wrong. According to a Daily Star report, NHS Dr. Karan Rajan has dispelled the myth of a ‘Plan B tablet’ in the pregnancy test with his TikTok video. According to NHS doctor and social media educator, Dr. Karan Rajan told people who are testing for pregnancy or trying to avoid pregnancy “not to take the tablets provided.” He clarified that the so-called “tablets” included in pregnancy test kits are not a backup plan or an emergency contraceptive tablet.

Don’t eat the tablets you find on a pregnancy test. They’re a desiccant tablet used to absorb and retain moisture to extend the life of a pregnancy test, much like the little packets of silica found in shoes and bags, Rajan said.

He further explained that these things are toxic to humans. Not only do they not prevent pregnancy, but they can also be dangerous, and if you have eaten one. Rajan advises you to consult a doctor. The doctor’s video, titled “Don’t Do This” will reach more people and convince them of this dangerous trend.

MIT Giving Hands-on Photonics Education Across Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private research university situated in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Since its establishment, the institute has played a key role in the development of modern technology and science. On the fifth floor of MIT, a research lab serves as a hands-on classroom where students learn how electronic and photonic chips work. This open-access facility was the first in the five labs supporting advanced manufacturing innovation in Massachusetts.

LEAP is about what we are doing with the tools. We are educating students from all over MIT, other four-year institutions, community colleges, and industry employees to understand the technology and develop prototypes to advance manufacturing and strengthen the future electronics and photonics workforce. – Anu Agarwal, principal research scientist in the Materials Research Laboratory and leader of the LEAP at MIT.

    How they are giving hands-on?

To support laboratory training, LEAP uses hands-on photonics learning kits created by the AIM Photonics Institute. The kits included chips designed by Professor Stefan Preble of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Jaime Cárdenas of the University of Rochester, and  Miloš Popović, associate professor of Boston University, and manufactured at the AIM Photonics Foundry led by Kimerling. These chips consist of passive and active photonic integrated circuits that can be tested using grating coupling or fiber-to-chip edge coupling. The kits also include detailed workbooks for teachers and students.

After a pause in boot camps due to Covid-19, LEAP is returning to regular activities for people from the industry, academia, and government. On March 22-24, MIT and Bridgewater State University LEAP offered the first joint collaborated photonics boot camp to teach engineers in the packaging and testing of photonics and electronic devices. Solder reflow and X-ray imaging were performed and programmed their sensors to light up the diodes. Device testing was running at Bridgewater State University’s LEAP. Those unable to attend the workshops in person can take the US-hosted AIM Photonics Academy online courses.

The US Department of Defense IKIM, led by MIT researcher Erik Verlage and Sajan Saini Academy of Photonics Education Director at AIM, is also developing a series of virtual reality-based training tools using LEAP simulation servers from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at MIT. At the last boot camp, attendees tested these desktop VR simulations to demonstrate how they can reduce physical tool orientation time, reduce tool breakage due to beginner mistakes, and enable remote training at your own pace.

  • Pig Butchering Scam, A New Way to Fraud People Via Dating Apps

Pig Butchering Scam, A New Way to Fraud People Via Dating Apps

In the age of Web 3.0 and cryptocurrencies, there are many ways to exploit its features. A new way that became viral is according to news recently broke calling the scam “Pig Butchering Scam”. The scam was first reported in China and happened via a dating app.

What is a Pig Butchering Scam?

The scam combines romance scams with crypto scams as victims are promised “happily ever after” and huge crypto profits. Cybercriminals running this long-running scam spend months earning the trust of online daters by exploiting the romance and lure of quick crypto returns for scam victims. This can lead to irreparable financial damage as well as lasting emotional and psychological trauma.

scammers meet victims on popular dating apps before moving the conversation to WhatsApp and bombarding the victim with flirtatious messages. After the conversation is converted to crypto, a scammer posing as a successful crypto trader offers to show the victim how to invest their money quickly.

What are other ways of crypto scams?

While cryptocurrency has plenty of legitimate uses, the currencies themselves are a favored payment method by cybercriminals looking for fast money whilst also maintaining their anonymity.

Jane Lee, a researcher at Sift, an online fraud prevention firm said, “Most recently, we’ve noticed fraudsters on messaging app forums posing as legitimate charities seeking cryptocurrency donations for Ukraine. However, because crypto payments are confirmed by both parties on the blockchain, the donors have no recourse and the fraudster can walk away with the money.”

What are the ways to stay safe?

Increasing digital literacy is more important than ever as our daily lives continue to transform online. People should do their research before investing in crypto and always make sure the platform they are using is official and legit. Presence in reputable search engines and app stores. is a good start.

  • McMaster’s Ukrainian Students Are Sharing How Can We Help Ukraine

McMaster’s Ukrainian Students Are Sharing How Can We Help Ukraine

After the Russian aggression on Ukraine in February, all of McMaster’s Ukrainian students are filled with misery and the pain they feel is not just theirs, but also for the whole community that spans the globe. After being exposed to a multitude of disheartening messages and images from their devastated homeland, it is not surprising that these students find it difficult to focus on their academic assessments.

Aleksa Gobosz is a third-year Biology student and Larisa Hemon is a third-year Life Sciences student. In addition to participating in Ukrainian cultural activities for more than 10 years and representing Ukraine’s interests at the national level, the two Vice-Presidents of Fundraising of the McMaster Ukrainian Students Association are tirelessly committed to the cause.

“We actively participate in the Ukrainian church. People may think that because we are Ukrainians, we are bringing this issue to the forefront now. However, that is not true at all. We are deeply invested in our culture and always have been. It is integrated into every facet of our lives,” said Gobosz.

    What MUSA Decided?

With Easter approaching, MUSA (McMaster Ukrainian Students Association) has decided that a suitable way to raise money for Ukraine would be with Pysanky kits. They are selling kits that include a kistka wax, 5 dyes, and instructions. The earned money will be donated to the Ukrainian fund.

Additionally, recently donating approximately  $800,000 in funding for displaced students, finding mental health support through services such as the Student Wellness Center has been a hurdle in itself. McMaster does not have culturally sensitive crisis management plans in place that are equipped to deal with the mental health struggles that arise for students due to ever-evolving global circumstances.

    The Situation of Students

People think it’s an ordinary conflict thousand of kilometers away, not going to affect them. That is far from the truth as it is already affecting us day by day. Ukrainian students are further burdened with knowing that their family and friends are in constant shelling with no way out. Many Ukrainian students communicate round-the-clock with their loved ones, during and in between their day-to-day life. Unfortunately, the extent to which the war has drastically shifted the lives and priorities of Ukrainian students has been vastly underreported, leaving many Ukrainian students burnt out and emotionally exhausted.

Participate in the events and rallies

Emilia Pasternak, the fourth-year nursing student and MUSA co-president joined over 30,000 people in Toronto on the walkway in support of Ukraine. Moreover, she said that even though people might not see the immediate value of rallies or events, the experience reminded her that a show of support can make a huge impact on their minds. There have been more rallies and events across Canada and will continue. A good place to find out when the next one is through “SUSK”, the Ukrainian Canadian Student Union.

    Don’t blame the Russian people

All of the student leaders of MUSA stress that people across Europe are affected by the war, including the Russian people too.

Do not blame the Russian people as decisions made by the Russian government are not necessarily reflective of the beliefs of all Russian people,” says Hemon.

There are a lot of Ukrainians in Hamilton and McMaster and the only way to get over this is by working together. There are efforts to facilitate attune help for students fleeing Ukraine to support academic freedom.

  • Namya Mahajan, A Nonprofit Entrepreneur Eased Preschool Learning to 800K Students

Namya Mahajan, A Nonprofit Entrepreneur Eased Preschool Learning to 800K Students

India is a growing country with a population of over 140 cr., the middle-class family child got peers before the first day of school due to a lack of preschools for mass. To solve this complex problem a nonprofit entrepreneur and founder Namya Mahajan came up with an Edtech solution, Rocket Learning. Namya’s Rocket Learning has already eased 800K child’s preschool learning issues in the past two years.

Namya Mahajan said“We’re focused on early childhood education, an area of the huge need in India. More than 70% of preschoolers in India receive no education at all before grade one. As you can imagine, the consequences are dire. Cognitive stimulation for 3 to 6-year-olds does so much more than prepare children for school.”

How does Rocket Learning bridge the learning gap?

After Mukesh Ambani’s jio hits, India has become online in almost every sector, now most people are aware and use a smartphone in their households. Rocket Learning is also aware of that scenario that’s why they use WhatsApp to meet parents and give them tasks. With the given task information any education level parent could work on with their child. After the task has been done Rocket Learning makes a report card according to the tasks and performance. With the report card in hand, parents feel more helpful and children are also used up with this method. Eventually, the issue of the preschool learning gap decreases.

Why does Namya Mahajan choose the non-profit model of business?

Rocket Learning was created with the belief that education is a fundamental right of every human being and with the Non-profit business model fulfilling that belief is easy. It would give space to giving solutions to needy parents. Since Rocket learning is tech-prioritized, scaling the solution is also very easy.

    About Namya Mahajan

After pursuing an MBA from the Harvard school of business, she used to be the managing director of the Self-Employed Women’s Cooperative Federation (SEWA). SEWA supports more than 100 women’s cooperatives in the informal economy. Before that, she worked at McKinsey and Company as a management consultant. Soon after graduation, she Co-founded Rocket Learning.

  • Technofascism: The New World Disorder

    Technofascism: The New World Disorder

TrineDay Publishing’s 150th book, Joel Kabakov’s “Technofascism: The New World Disorder,” is released on March 15, 2022, according to publisher RA “Kris” Millegan, The term technofascism came to the author’s mind a few years ago as he was discussing recent trends with a friend.

As Andy Farnell points out in the book’slg4 foreword, the turning of technology into tyranny appears to be a global and universal process. Is there something within us that craves servitude and the beatings of a cruel mechanical master, he wonders? Are we giving up our right to choose in order to serve a new religion? And, if Joel’s words are a rallying cry, we must ask not whether technology can save us, but whether we can save technology.

    Humanitarian protest movements

Mr. Millegan: I produce books to expose the people in the shadows that influence news and events to push their agendas on us. They frequently cause us to fight amongst ourselves while robbing us blind and doing horrific things to people in other countries. This is not the America of our dreams, which we must build and pass down to future generations. Joel commented on page one of his book on how difficult it is to be free and urge one’s government to respect human rights.’…the greater empire’s geographic reach, the greater the need for domestic social control, accompanied by brutal state crackdowns on dissent, no matter how justified or popular. ‘Indeed, the mass projection of authority abroad necessitates a large domestic labor class, which is the most likely to spark humanitarian protest movements. As a result, support for the emperor-dictator… necessitates that everyone, whether directly or indirectly, serves the state. As a result, any collective desire for liberty and the right to dissent has been drummed out of the people… whenever it develops… in imperial governments, keeping any glimmer of democracy in political obscurity. ‘Good morning, America.

    Proxy Culture

“Ominously,” Millegan continues, “advances the case that one of the main goals of the technofascist state is to create a proxy culture that will eventually replace and destroy culture itself.” Joel’s book encapsulates TrineDay‘s vision and is an excellent choice for our 150th book.

TrineDay is run by RA “Kris” Millegan, a small publishing house founded in 2002 in response to the corporate press’s refusal to publish many interesting, well-researched, and well-written books that challenge official history and threaten America’s corporate culture. TrineDay will publish its 150th book on March 15, 2022.

Joel Kabakov is a composer, poet, and author of “Technofascism: The New World Disorder,” which was inspired by Rachel Carson’s 1962 classic “Silent Spring,” which launched the environmental movement.

  • Technavio’s E-learning Market in the UK to Grow by $9.94 Billion

Technavio’s E-learning Market in the UK to Grow by $9.94 Billion

The UK e-learning market is expected to grow  USD 9.94 billion from 2020 to 2025. Further, the growth momentum of the market will accelerate to reach a CAGR of 15.05% during the forecast period. The UK e-learning market is fragmented and vendors promote their product offerings with a clear and unique value proposition to compete in the market.

Driver: E-learning market in the UK

The rise of the e-learning market in the United Kingdom is being fueled by improvements in the academic sector. To fulfill the demands of their teaching schedules and support teachers’ learning styles, schools are using personalized learning and job-embedded professional learning. In educational institutions, various sorts of assessment systems have been implemented. As a result, innovations like personalizing learning processes and adaptive learning have gained traction. Furthermore, e-learning allows students to pursue courses outside of the typical curriculum requirements by providing a flexible method of learning different disciplines. E-learning courses provide a flexible timeframe that allows students to get immediate access to course materials based on their needs. Market expansion will be aided by such factors.

Challenge: E-learning market in the UK

The rise of in-house content development will put pressure on the UK e-learning market. To complement online platforms, blended e-learning necessitates online study materials and accompanying services. Companies and universities such as Tesco and the Open University are personalizing the digital learning experience through updates, variants, and translations utilizing e-learning content development tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and Gomo Learning. These tools aid in the creation of course content, the updating of modifications, and the management of the curriculum. In-house content producers collaborate with instructors to design a few courses, which they then add various graphics and videos to and tweak based on learner engagement and feedback. Because course content can be generated by in-house subject matter experts, this presents a problem for third-party content producers. The challenge will be the increased development in the in-house course content.

    Key Vendor Analysis

To compete in the UK’s fragmented e-learning market, providers are promoting their product offerings through a clear and unique value proposition. The following are some of these vendors’ products:

Adobe Inc. – Through its adobe captivate program, the corporation provides e-learning.

Cornerstone OnDemand Inc. – Through its ACME division, the firm provides e-learning.

D2L Corp. is an e-learning platform that caters to schools, higher education, corporate learning, associations, and workforce upskilling.

    Segmentation Analysis

The e-learning market in the United Kingdom has been divided into packaged content and solutions. The market has also been categorized by end-user into K12, higher education, and corporate.

CMTrading Shares the Importance of Education as a Financial Trader

On March 19, CMTrading Nigeria, the recent winner of Nigeria’s Best Financial Broker for 2022, will host a free trading seminar. Tope Ijibadejo, Regional Manager of CMTrading Nigeria, explains the significance of financial literacy and how to take advantage of opportunities to educate and empower yourself when trading.

Online and on most mobile devices, global trade is now possible. The days of just relying on stockbrokers and portfolio managers are long gone. “However, understanding the fundamental concepts of online trading and being appropriately informed on how to make the most of the instruments available is crucial.” This session, CMTrading hopes, will bring new insight to everyone interested in learning how to trade with confidence.

    New Outlook

Many people are looking for ways to be more financially prepared in these uncertain times, especially with the recent uncertainty in so many businesses owing to COVID. Having a finger in several pies can help ordinary people in times of financial difficulty. Having multiple revenue streams is critical. During the pandemic, many business sectors collapsed and suffered losses. Trading, on the other hand, has thrived, and with more people having access to the internet, the markets will continue to expand. Traders are prospering even though Ukraine and Russia are at war, despite the fact that European businesses are hurting. Multiple revenue streams act as a safety net in the event of a crisis. Forex, stock, CFD, and Bitcoin trading are all options that can be pursued, but they must first be de-mystified.

Trading is not tough; however, it might appear more complex if people lack the necessary education and are not connected to the appropriate resources and technology. It is claimed that even the simplest activities are difficult for someone who does not know how to execute them. Lack of expertise and access to resources can make trading platforms difficult to use, no matter how basic they are.

Copy-trading is a good option for a beginner

The vast majority of people have jobs and expenses to pay. To take advantage of the emerging trends, it’s not as simple as learning finance. A trustworthy, forward-thinking trading organization can help you find a way to earn while learning. Social trading platforms allow aspiring traders to connect with more experienced and expert traders in the industry and mimic their trades. When these traders profit, traders who follow them can profit as well, just by linking their trading accounts. Copy trading is not only free, but it also does not divert attention away from one’s regular employment. Traders who do not have the time to trade full-time can nevertheless benefit by mimicking pros who do. Trading is at the heart of these people’s life. Copy-trading is a method of making money by copying other people’s trades.
