10 Proven Tips For Healthy Weight Loss By Celebrity Nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar

Tips For Healthy Weight Loss

Weight loss. Probably the most wished and aimed resolution every person has kept at least once. (Spoiler alert) Most are not successful in these resolutions. There are diet books out there enough to fill up entire libraries claiming tips and ideas here and there about weight loss. But the truth is many of those weight loss tips are just saying “don’t eat anything” in different ways. Which is so not the way to lose weight. Leading a healthy life should be the aim of starting any kind of fitness routine.  So are the thoughts of Celebrity Dietician and Nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar.  The Differences What most people don’t understand is that everyone’s body type is different. While one weight loss tip works magic for one person, it may not be suitable for the other. Following fitness routines that are specifically designed for you keeping in mind your stamina, strength, and possible reactions is the way to go. It will likely take some time, effort, and some trial and error with different meals and diets to find a weight loss technique that works for you. While some people respond well to strict weight loss methods like calorie tracking, others would rather have more flexibility in their fitness routines. They will be more successful if they restrict processed carbs and stay away from fried meals. If a diet doesn’t work for you despite working for someone else, don’t give up. Don’t be too harsh on yourself if you find a diet to be extremely restricted. And last, a diet can only be helpful if it is maintained over time. Portion Control is having your meals in a controlled manner. What is that control? The amount you and your stomach can handle. You can occasionally include a treat in your diet if you practice portion management.  Rujuta Diwekar typically says that even if you indulge yourself sometimes, a little serving will sate your desires and prevent weight gain. Everything in excess, even veggies, is harmful. Eat appropriately because our stomachs are just the size of two hands. When you consume a meal, avoid having distractions like TV, phones, or laptops. If you prefer to watch something while having your meals, it causes distractions and all your attention is not on the food but on the content in front of you. This results in over-eating as you unconsciously consume more than you need. To lead a healthy life, you need to eat just what is needed. There will never be two weight loss journeys that are the same. You might not want to go on a diet right now, even though you think it has benefitted you in the past. A wise diet may take unpredictability into account and make changes in your stress and hunger into consideration. In a series of videos, Rujuta Diwekar explained that quick weight loss is not long-term maintainable. About 10% of your body weight should be lost over the course of a year for healthy and long-lasting weight loss. Fitness routines that claim a quick weight loss hinder a healthy life ahead. The weight loss tip that differentiates Rujuta Diwekar from any other Nutritionist. She recommends having local food- your region’s specialty, your staple diet, or the food our moms have been making since time. She claims that no type of exotic or pricey food is needed for a fitness routine. Healthy weight loss can be achieved by having food that our body is familiar with and recognizes. A common weight loss error is getting too little sleep. It’s important to give the body some time to unwind and repair after a demanding workout program. Rujuta Diwekar claims that obtaining adequate sleep is the most important step in weight loss and aids in maintaining healthy skin and hair. While it may come as a surprise, the celebrity nutritionist advises sleeping in the afternoon to increase the quality of your sleep, which will help you lose weight even more. Unless it is doctor recommended, and your body actually can’t digest lactase, doing a dairy-free diet does more harm to your body. Dairy Products contain calcium and other nutrients that are extremely beneficial. Sugar-free, in Rujuta’s opinion, means nothing. Nothing that claims to be sugar-free truly is. Sugar may be consumed, just in moderation. You shouldn’t start your day with coffee or tea, and whenever you do, try to enjoy the taste of the drinks with less sugar. Two modest cups of tea or coffee each day should be plenty. On social media, there are a ton of fitness gurus and experts that provide advice on how to lose weight and what foods to consume and avoid. Rujuta advises against mindlessly copying these Internet memes.

Long Haul Covid: What is Brain Fog And Are You Going Through It?

Brain Fog

Once you stain one of your favorite outfits, no matter how many wipes or effort, a small patch will always stay. Like residuals and remains of a colony. A similar situation can be seen with COVID. Several survivors claim to be going through related or new symptoms once they recover. Brain Fog is one of them.  It is like once COVID made a place, there’s no way you can get it completely out of your system. People have reported feeling slower in their mental processes. Their thinking capacity is seemingly less sharp and quick. Memory is weak and they tend to be forgetful about the most recent things. One of the most frequent issues that patients of all ages bring up to me these days is this “brain fog.” One of the numerous potential causes is a post-COVID-19 syndrome, often known as “Long Haul COVID.” What is Brain Fog? Brain-Fog isn’t exactly a clinical term. But it is something many people experience- related or unrelated to COVID. It slows down a bit when your brain goes through pressure, stress, or any related and tiring phase. After flu, jetlag, or overexertion your mind can slip into this state where it is a bit foggy and slow. All you can do is wait for your brain to get back to its normal state.  The only hiccup when it comes to Brain fog that is accompanied by COVID is people claiming their brains never got back to their normal state.  COVID-Induced Brain Fog To generate neurologic symptoms, COVID-19 either worsens already present symptoms or results in the emergence of brand-new symptoms. A case of COVID-19 may exacerbate any existing nerve pain brought on by neuropathy (a broad term for nerve malfunction) or a spine injury. Similarly, a person who has modest memory loss due to aging will probably see a considerable drop in cognitive skills for several months after getting over the initial sickness. According to the researchers’ study, which was published on Wednesday in the Lancet Psychiatry, the risk of acquiring diseases including psychosis, dementia, “brain fog,” and seizures is still higher up to two years after contracting Covid-19 infection than it is after other respiratory illnesses. However, while mental disorders like anxiety and sadness are more prevalent right away after receiving a Covid-19 diagnosis, they are only temporary, becoming no more likely to occur after two months than after a similar infection like the flu. According to recent scientific research, two to three months after infection, 20 to 30 percent of persons have cognitive fog. Up to 80% of individuals with extended Covid also have mental fog. It has been hypothesized from recent studies that Covid may generate substantial and chronic inflammation in the brain that dysregulates brain cells and would be predicted to contribute to cognitive impairment, even though the specific etiology is not yet fully understood. Manage Your Symptoms The first and most crucial step is to visit your doctor and discuss all of your persisting symptoms with them. The list should also include issues like shortness of breath, palpitations, and unusual urine or stools, as well as your brain fog and other neurologic symptoms (such as weakness, numbness, tingling, and loss of smell or taste).

Human Hair Mats That Soak Up Oil-Spills: A Solution To Keep Waterways Free from Pollution

oil spill

An average human being sheds around 50 to 100 strands of hair. Human hair has some fascinating qualities and powers. Not as fascinating as Rapunzel, but quite special. Naturally, hair and fur readily absorb oil; in fact, hair may absorb three to nine times its weight in oil.  Lisa Gautier, who runs a non-profit organization in San Francisco named Matter of Trust turns donated hair into mats. Not only is this a great way to reuse hair that can lead to choking hazards for animals and even humans, but she also uses these mats to soak up oil spills.  The Discovery Phil McCroy, a hairstylist, was watching the 1989 Exxon oil spill in Alaska on television when he noticed that otters were covered in oil. Around the otters, McCroy noticed that the water seemed cleaner. Combining the two, he understood that the otters’ fur was absorbing the oil. The concept of using client hair that has been cut at salons to wipe up spills intrigued him. Phil and Lisa Gautier collaborated to enhance the idea ten years later. The Hair We Share The San Francisco warehouse of Matter of Trust receives daily deliveries of hair trimmings from salons, pet groomers, and private customers. The packages are examined for contaminants like debris, dirt, or lice to produce the mats. Then, the hair is separated, spread out across a frame, and put through a specially designed felting machine. “We have what we call the hair force, people mail it (hair) in every day”. Gautier went on to say that some people might find using human hair gross or weird, however, she doesn’t. A two-foot square, a one-inch thick mat made from 500 grams of hair can hold up to 1.5 gallons (5.6 liters) of oil. A Solution? Oil Spills, shockingly, are more common and frequent than we realize. Marine life is affected quite harshly when gallons and gallons of oil are spilled into water bodies causing mass deaths of sea creatures.  Companies and organizations that handle oil spills can approach this catastrophe with the aid of these Human Hair Mats. It’s possible to make these hair mats into substantial mats that can be pulled by boats across the water! The mats wouldn’t float as a result, making retrieval simple.  Most big oil spills are cleaned using chemicals or mats made with petroleum. The solution we currently use is not just temporary but also very harmful when it comes to the sea life we are dealing with.  These companies could use these innovative mats to help soak up oil spills instead of spending time, money, and energy in making mats and other solutions that potentially cause more harm to the sea than to help it get better and cleaner.  However, when we talk about marine oil spills, during one of the most significant oil spills of the time, Hair Mats from Matter of Trust were put to test after receiving a wave of hair donations and support. The hair mats get heavier after soaking the oil and causing them to sink.  A New Approach After this discovery, Matter of Trust decided to take their focus to a different picture but with the same goal. Our water bodies are also affected by motor oil spills that later make their way through the drain to the ocean.  There are many ways oil gets spilled, and the non-profit now focuses on oil that drips through cars and then through rainwater or drains later contaminating the ocean.  These drips add up to over 180 million gallons of oil spilled for a year. Hair mats from Matter of Trust are used to soak up these drips which helps the oceans and marine life sail peacefully. Matter of Trust, according to Gautier, has produced over 300,000 booms and over 40,000 hair mats for significant cleanups, including the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and many more for non-emergency spills, including everything from decontaminating storm, drains to soaking up oil from leaking vehicles and machinery.

Will China Give The World A Throwback To COVID-19? China Records A Million Cases

Covid

While the rest of the globe has been reporting a few infections daily over the previous few months, China is experiencing a rapid rise in Covid cases and deaths. Several sources claim that the Chinese healthcare system is under stress due to an increase in infections and fatalities. New questions concerning the pandemic have been prompted by the current scenario in China, such as “Why are Covid instances rising in China now?” and “Will the same problem repeat itself in the rest of the world?” The Real Picture According to a fresh analysis from a London-based analytics business, Bloomberg reported Thursday that China, which is fighting to manage what is possibly the largest Covid-19 outbreak the world has ever seen, maybe record a million Covid-19 cases and 5,000 fatalities every 24 hours. According to Airfinity Ltd., the current wave of cases, which has been made worse by China’s insistence on abandoning Covid protocols as well as the appearance of BF.7, a new Omicron subvariant, could rise to 3.7 million daily new cases by the end of the month and a terrifying 4.2 million by the end of March. Why China? Experts claim that following the initial Covid virus outbreak in China, the government occasionally adopted the zero-covid policy, resulting in extremely stringent lockdown conditions that prevented people from being exposed to more recent sub-variants like Delta or Omicron. Because of this, the average level of immunity in China did not rise to the same degree as it did in the rest of the globe. The relaxation of the zero-covid policy is now causing a significant increase in infections because the majority of Chinese people were not exposed to different sub-variants of the virus on a widespread basis. Another factor is that 130 million old individuals in China are at risk for immunization failure or non-immunization. If the virus spreads unchecked in China, mortality in this population would most likely be quite high—possibly exceeding 1 million. According to leading Chinese epidemiologist Eric Feigl-Ding, 1-2 million fatalities could occur overall as a result. The Bigger Picture Having spent the last two years in a pandemic, and only recently the world getting back to “normal”, this new widespread spread of the same virus has raised some questions and eyebrows.  It’s not just a health emergency that COVID-19 is spreading. The pandemic now has a geopolitical component. The health crisis disrupted the delivery of global public goods, exacerbated competitive dynamics between the USA and China, and introduced instability into the global order. The “game changer” cluster mutations present in the Covid-19 virus are of great concern. These make the virus more transmissible, highly infectious. Also able to dodge human immune systems’ antibodies produced by earlier infections and vaccinations. There were more than 10 mutations in these problematic variations. There were 18 mutations in the Delta variant. This genetically modified chimeric virus has been improved by gain of function-accelerated manual mutations, resulting in several variants. Under the guise of an on and off pandemic, the sudden development of cluster mutations in some parts of the world would raise the potential of deliberate biowar. What Now? It’s challenging to predict whether the world would experience another wave of Covid because there is now no precise information available from China regarding how the new sub-variant of Omicron BF.7, which is driving this new wave, is changing. Let’s hope that the situation doesn’t arise since the rest of the globe has better immunity from earlier exposure to the virus and better vaccinations. All we can do is take the precautions we took before and hope we don’t get 2023 as a 2.0 version of 2020.

6 Tips You Need For Having A Stress-Free Holiday Season

Stress Free Holiday

The long-awaited holiday season is knocking on the door. When we see family, wear the ugliest but comfiest sweaters, and most importantly, have all the hot chocolate milk because calories don’t count for the holiday season! Duh! Now, this might be a different holiday season for some. Those who, along with the Christmas gifts baggage, also have tons of emotional baggage and an influx of stress and anxiety. As said in the lyric, “We’re sleeping on our problems like we solve them in our dreams, we wake up every morning and they’re still under the sheets.” We can’t just ignore them and make it the problem of the future versions of us. The holiday season requires a lot, including extravagant meals, thoughtful gifts, and a constant smile. If you’re not in a festive mood, you’re not alone. If the holiday season makes you go no-no-no, there are some routines and practical strategies you can use to naturally get rid of that stress and rejoice with the near and dear! In a survey performed for the American Psychiatric Association, 41% of Americans said that the holidays made them more stressed out. During the holidays, many expectations are placed on us, which can make anxiety soar. But there are other issues as well, such as anxiety and stress. The holiday season is a popular time for depression. When someone is grieving over the holidays or already has the seasonal affective disorder, this can sometimes result in loneliness or a lack of fulfillment, which exacerbates the symptoms of depression. With the added strain of family and holiday shopping or the isolation that COVID-19 brought to some people’s holidays, conditions like depression and anxiety might get worse. You won’t necessarily feel happy just because it’s the Christmas season. That’s fine too. To begin controlling your stress, you must first recognize your feelings. You may choose how to respond to stress if you can identify it and name it. Finding the source of your stress might also be aided by acknowledging the stress you’re experiencing. Perhaps your plans are failing or having your entire family at your house is unpleasant. In general, it is really easy to let things get to you. One little hiccup can ruin your “vibe” for the whole day. Especially during the holiday season, when there is chaos on the streets, in shops, and coffee shops. It is important to realize that it is a bad day, and not a bad life. In such scenarios, ask yourself Half of the stress comes from letting others exceed their limits and letting ourselves expand. It is important to consider ourselves as a person too and take care and put ourselves first.  Not overworking and as a result burning out is the “new year, new me” everyone needs. This can be in the case of office teammates, friends or social circle, and even family.  The next step after acknowledging your feelings is sharing them with people you trust. It might make you feel better, validated, and light after getting that weight off your shoulders. There is nothing wrong with not feeling okay. And so is letting someone know that you are not. For some, it can help to talk to Artkan best ranked ai girlfriend bots who can sympathise and support you, especially in the case that you don’t have anyone else around to share your feelings with. While you go gift shopping while analyzing the needs and wishes of everyone, it is important to not forget your own. The holiday season is called a “holiday” for a reason. It is for you to rejuvenate yourself and lift yourself from those little meanies troubling you.  “Nah! New Years’ Resolutions never work for me!” Yes. Because the set resolutions are so unrealistic, even the little part of you was laughing at yourself while setting them.  Set resolutions according to your capacity, caliber, and courage.  Breaking your goal into smaller stages and phases makes it seem more achievable. When the mind takes it one step at a time, the completion of that resolution seems easier and do-able. Another important point is to be gentle with yourself. In case you are not able to achieve any goal or task, don’t beat yourself up about it. Don’t let yourself slip into the black hole of self-loathing.  Happy (Happy) Holidays!

Football Cheers at the Dark Side of the Qatar World Cup

FIFA world cup

Criticism intensifies as the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar gets underway. Human rights advocates, lawmakers, soccer fans, and the media claim that 6,500 if not 15,000, people died due to the soccer event. But are the figures accurate? There has been discussion about Qatar’s treatment of foreign workers and the human cost of the event ever since it hosts the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Numerous estimates exist regarding the number of workers who have passed away on the World Cup building sites in Qatar, but it is challenging to determine the exact number. The fans of the game have not let this go out of their radar and have shown up to games with signs in memory and honor of those workers.  “A very significant proportion of the migrant workers who have died since 2011 were only in the country because Qatar won the right to host the World Cup.” Nick McGeehan – Director, FairSquare Tracing The Workers At least 6,500 workers from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan have perished in Qatar since 2010, according to a Guardian investigation into migrant worker fatalities. The data, which was gathered through government sources, exclude statistics from some significant sending countries to Qatar (such as the Philippines or Kenya), as well as the latter months of 2020, thus the overall death toll is probably greater. Though the exact occupations of these workers weren’t listed in said report, it can easily be assumed that they were there for the infrastructure and other organizational jobs for the famous football cup.  The report previously gave a classification of deaths as “natural causes” or “sudden heart failure”, but fails to give a legitimate cause of these deaths. Qatar workers who have been under outdoor employment have faced death due to the extreme heat stress before, but the report says differently.  34 of the 37 deaths of construction employees directly associated with building World Cup stadiums have been deemed “non-work related” by the organization of the event. The term’s use has drawn criticism from experts since it has occasionally been used to describe occupational fatalities, such as the number of workers who have collapsed and died on stadium construction projects. Health vs Weather  Migrant Workers in Qatar are supposedly healthy upon arrival-  based on the mandatory health check. In addition, regardless of their background or line of work, foreign workers in Qatar are typically healthy individuals who must pass a set of medical exams to be granted a visa. This process weeds out potential applicants with infectious diseases like AIDS/HIV, hepatitis B, and C, syphilis, or tuberculosis. Also excluded from these data are migratory workers who pass away after returning to their native nations. The frequency of fatal renal failure cases among males aged 20 to 50 in Nepal has increased significantly over the past ten years, according to the authorities there. Many of these men had recently returned from working in the Middle East. Medical experts in Nepal believe that this can be explained by the harsh Gulf weather conditions mixed with the shortage and poor quality of drinking water that affected people have experienced. Officials Perspective The International Labour Organization (ILO), however, maintains that this is an understatement. Although heart attacks and respiratory failure are common signs of heatstroke brought on by performing strenuous labor in extremely hot conditions, Qatar does not count these deaths as being related to the workplace. It has generated its statistics for World Cup-related occurrences using data gathered from Qatar’s government-run hospitals and ambulance services. According to the report, in 2021 alone, 50 foreign workers lost their lives and more than 500 others suffered catastrophic injuries. Another 37,600 people were hurt slightly too badly. Human Rights And Qatar Back in 2010, when Qatar hosted a previous season of the World Cup, several human rights communities criticized the country for its arrangements and treatment of foreign workers. According to a 2016 report, the workers lived in “squalid accommodation” while their passports were taken away.  The government has implemented measures since 2017 to prevent foreign employees from laboring in extreme heat, limit their hours of work, and improve the circumstances in workers’ camps. Human Rights Watch, a campaign organization, claimed in a study dated 2021 that foreign workers continued to experience “punitive and illegal salary deductions” and “months of unpaid wages for long hours of punishing labor.” In the past, Qatari businesses used a “kafala” system in which they funded foreign workers’ entry into the nation but forbade them from quitting their jobs once they were there. We deeply regret all of these tragedies and investigated each incident to ensure lessons were learned. We have always maintained transparency around this issue and dispute inaccurate claims about the number of workers who have died on our projects. Qatar Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy

25mg Of Magic Mushrooms May Help in Depression, Trial Suggests

Magic Mushrooms

Trial Findings: Magic Mushrooms Can Help A Depressed Brain  In a shocking turn of events, research, and trials, Hallucinogenic or Magic-Mushrooms, if consumed in a recommended, controlled, and safe amount can make psychological therapy more successful.  Depression and other mental illnesses are increasingly and alarmingly wide-spreading. An estimated 100 million people worldwide have been diagnosed with severe clinical depression. Some cases can get so intense, that proven and available techniques don’t show any results. This is worrisome for us as a society and where our mental health is heading.  Why Psilocybin? For many years, researchers have been examining how psilocybin affects mental health conditions. Though encouraging, recent trials have been too brief to evaluate long-term impacts. In recent trials, 1mg, 10mg, and 25mg doses of psilocybin were tested on 233 test subjects from 10 different countries. The trial showed 25mg doses to have the best results.  The Subjects And Their Experience According to the researchers from the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience at King’s College London, the majority of the patients were approximately 40 years old and had had severe depression for more than a year. Following a single 25mg Comp360 psilocybin dose with psychotherapy: The patients underwent a psychedelic “trip” for six to eight hours while they were laying on beds in quiet rooms. One patient described the event as “a waking dream.” The Other Side Of The Coin While there are recorded improvements, in the end, the substance being played with is a harmful drug that can have serious side effects on one’s mental and physical health.  After a week, some patients in all groups reported adverse effects such as headaches, nausea, acute fatigue, and suicidal thoughts. The researchers claimed this was unusual, but some experts believe it may raise safety issues. Potential Threat When it comes to mental illnesses like depression, it isn’t something that can be healed in a few sittings. It can sometimes take years for people to get over the battles they are fighting among themselves. Hence, using a drug like Psilocybin for that long of a period can be harmful more than healing.  Additionally, some experts pointed out that the results and effects of the 25mg dose started to wear off after about 12 weeks.  Prof Andrew Mclntosh said “Psilocybin may [one day] provide a potential alternative to antidepressants that have been prescribed for decades,” It will take many more trials and observations before Psilocybin can be deemed safe enough to be authorized and trusted. Till that day arises, Psilocybin is a drug that, if overdosed, can be life-threatening.

“What Are The Odds?”- The Secrets Behind Coincidences

coincidence

Ever happened that you decided last minute to wear a shirt, and you step outside and the sky is in the shades of your shirt? Or you were randomly thinking about someone, and they approached you out of the blue! Or you saw this reel of Ramen and your best friend in the evening says “Let us go have Ramen.” Coincidences! All sweet little coincidences! Coincidences feel like a cheeky little surprise by the Universe.  We all experience these little moments and honestly, they bring us joy! Plasters a smile on our faces for the rest of the day. The weirdest coincidences will happen and we will be left to think “How did that even happen” all day.  Scholars, Spiritualists, and Normal people, all have thought about and tried to apply some logic to coincidences. To have something to back up the crazy experience.  Although the question “What are the odds?” has become synonymous with coincidences, they are more than just unexpected events. Despite the variety of experiences in the boat marked “coincidences,” we are tempted to gather them for reasons that go beyond mere oddity. No Coincidences In Opinions  If you throw the question “What do you think about…?” there will be at least 7-8 different explanations, theories, and analogies of the same concept. The concept of coincidences is no different.  Some have an opinion that these little moments are a sign or message from above- a warning of some sort. If we think hard enough, we will find some connection or message hidden.  On the other hand, some believe that they are just us connecting two dots subconsciously. It is our mind that leads us from point A to point B forming a connection.  “The world is so unpredictable. Things happen suddenly, unexpectedly. We want to feel we are in control of our existence. In some ways, we are, and in some ways, we’re not. We are ruled by the forces of chance and coincidence.” – Paul Auster Scientifically Speaking Because everything has a scientific point of view, many researchers and mega minds have tried to find a meaning behind coincidences. Today’s experts think coincidences have no deeper significance. However, we all experience them and tend to give these amazing combinations of events a profound meaning. According to a  study by mathematicians Diaconis and Mosteller, Coincidences are  “a surprising concurrence of events, perceived as meaningfully related, with no apparent causal connection”. Similarly, another study describes it as “Extremely improbable events are commonplace but humans aren’t great at reasoning objectively about probability as they go about their everyday lives.” The Everything Happens For A Reason Theory The universe is one big system. It runs on its plans and pathways taking all of us together. The things happening in our lives- finding a long-lost pen, seeing someone on the road, noticing a stranger, and more. Every incident that happens to us, big or small, is a part of the universe’s plan and all we do is simply walk on it.  That’s the theory in an instant. Every day we’ve spent, and every mountain we have climbed led us to this particular moment in our lives.  What crosses people about this theory is that it leaves no room for free will and being in control of one’s own life. It is disheartening to some to know that whatever decisions they take in life, whatever paths they choose, were already decided. And whatever their life becomes, good or bad, it is bound already.  Universe Sending Messages Many people think that these connections promote psychological development and change, allowing you to individuate and become who you are. They think that coincidences convey personal messages to them. People who are more interested in statistics tend to believe that coincidences are simply unexpected but predictable happenings that stand out because they surprise us.  Both explanations absolve us of responsibility: either unusual forces are at work, or the cosmos is acting irrationally. Even with all these explanations, coincidences stay a mystery for most people.  The Unus Mundus The power of synchronicity caused meaningful coincidences. They may be seen as glimmers of the unus mundus, or “one world.” Another one of Carl Jung’s concepts. The idea that reality has an underlying structure and order, a network that connects everything and everyone, is known as the unus mundus theory. For Jung, synchronicity included ESP, telepathy, and ghosts in addition to coincidences. And current study indicates that those who believe in the supernatural are also more prone to experience frequent coincidences. This is the problem with trying to explain coincidences in a way that goes deeper than chance: it can easily drift into the paranormal. “It is such a complex matter we live within, it is impossible to track logic and decision making really, so therefore each choice can actually only be seen as coincidence.” – Alva Noto In the end, you choose what you want to believe in. Whether you want to believe it is the universe giving you signs for the future, or they are just subconscious.  But you will surely notice even more coincidences now, after reading about coincidences. Happy exploring!

Vaping Vs Smoking – The New and Newer Ways of Addiction

Vaping vs smoking

They say the media or cinema is explicitly the mirror of society. Whatever is shown on screen, has its roots in the real world. If we take a glance at the newest series or movies, there are two things extremely common. Sensual content and some kind of alcohol abuse- particularly smoking or vaping. It’s time for another battle- Vaping vs Smoking. Smoking, and its later cousin Vaping, has increasingly grown popular among youth. Even after countless warnings, the rise in the usage of vapes is alarming.  The real question is, why is it so appealing to youth? What is Vaping? An electronic cigarette, often known as a “vape,” is a device that warms a liquid to produce vapor that you inhale. Vape Pens, e-cigarettes (like JUUL), and hookahs are a few examples of vaping equipment. There are still several health hazards associated with vaping, although it seems to be a healthier option than smoking cigarettes. The aerosol that is inhaled when using a vaping device often contains nicotine (though not always), flavorings, and other substances. They can resemble  Cig-a-likes, cigars, pipes, or even everyday objects like pens or USB memory sticks. The Battle Of Lungs- Vaping Vs Smoking Many individuals feel that vaping is safer than smoking, but this isn’t always true, according to the American Heart Association (AHA). Vaping may be dangerous, according to growing data. Both smoking and vaping are harmful to people’s health. The evidence that is currently available suggests that smoking is more dangerous than vaping. This does not imply that vaping is secure, though. Nicotine, which is known to delay brain development in fetuses, young children, and teenagers, can be found in high concentrations in e-cigarettes. Additionally, vaping releases harmful substances like diacetyl, chemicals that cause cancer, heavy metals, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Contrary to vaping, which is relatively new, allegations that smoking is harmful to human health are thoroughly supported by years of research. About 480,000 persons have lost of lives due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) every year in the United States. There are more than 7,000 compounds in second-hand smoke. Around 70 of these hazardous substances are cancer-causing. While containing fewer toxins than cigarettes, according to the AHA, vaping liquids are not completely safe.  The difference between smoking and vaping is that smoking delivers nicotine by burning tobacco, which can cause smoking-related illnesses, and vaping can deliver nicotine by heating a liquid in a much less harmful way. Reaching The Target There are public service announcements, posters, and protests everywhere about smoking or vaping side effects everywhere. There is a slim chance of someone saying they haven’t ever come across such warnings.  So the real question is, how do these vape pens or other smoking techniques reach their targets? What makes these vapes so appealing that young people can’t seem to keep their hands off these nicotine bombs?  E-cigarette businesses boosted their investment from $6.4 million to $115 million between 2011 and 2014. E-cigarette use among high school students rose from 2% to 13% within the same period. Youth e-cigarette use may be increasing due to exposure to e-cigarette marketing. Roughly 69% of high school and middle school kids have seen advertisements for e-cigarettes in retail stores, online, in magazines and newspapers, or on TV and in movies. These ads connect vapes and smoking in general to features and feeling appealing to youth. Emotions are the correct way to get to the hearts of young people. These ads associate vapes with a strong emotional appeal like happiness, friendships, good college life, success, and even “being cool.”  What happens is young people are exposed to these commercials and ads and cigarette companies take advantage of their impressionable minds. Instilling the idea that one can achieve certain things with the use of these vapes. They will be popular and they will have a bigger social circle.  Vaping As An Aid To Quitting? Many are under an impression that vapes provide a lesser percentage of nicotine while giving the same burn one would feel through cigarettes. While e-cigarette companies frequently promote their products as an effective way to stop smoking, the FDA does not accept this claim (U.S. Food and Drug Administration). E-cigarettes have not been approved as a smoking cessation aid because insufficient data is demonstrating their efficacy in assisting smokers to quit. A survey discovered that 80% of smokers who switched to e-cigarettes as a start to quitting smoking continue to use them even a year later. In other words, the decision to transition to e-cigarettes is simply an attempt to replace the addiction with a behavior that is seen as more fashionable. Quitting Cigarettes  If you are someone going through or want to start the process of quitting, you should know that it is never too late. No addiction is stronger than your willpower. You can approach resources for help and can achieve your goals in no time!  “Replacing the smoke on your face with a smile today will replace illness in your life with happiness tomorrow. Quit now. Eliminate tobacco from your life before it kills you! We need to burn calories daily, not tobacco!”

After the 9/11 Attack, How the US Strengthen Its Life-Saving Policies?

9/11 Attack

Terrorism did not begin on September 11, 2001, but that ill-fated day changed the world. The attacks on the United States, which killed nearly three thousand innocent people, demonstrated that terrorism had evolved into a global phenomenon capable of causing massive pain and destruction anywhere. Because of the magnitude of the attacks, no one could remain on the sidelines. Because the impact of terrorism was felt everywhere, the fight had become global. Terrorists mock the human values we share and strive to uphold. Peace, equality, tolerance, and dignity for all are universal values that transcend national boundaries. They are the adhesive that holds us together. We must unite as nations and peoples of the world to protect our common humanity. Aftermath of 9/11 With 9/11 marking its 21-year mark this year, there is a chance to consider how the world and the United States have changed throughout this generation. Any assessment attempting to weigh the costs and benefits of US national security responses and approaches across four US administrations, however, will only provide a partial picture. The protective actions taken over the last 21 years have resulted in significant gains in domestic security—but these gains have come at a high human, financial, and strategic opportunity cost. The global anti-terrorism framework Long before that fateful September morning ten years ago, the United Nations was preoccupied with the issue of terrorism. For decades, the Organization has brought the international community together to condemn terrorist acts and to create an international legal framework that allows states to combat the threat collectively. Sixteen international treaties have been negotiated at the United Nations and related forums, addressing issues as diverse as plane hijacking, hostage taking, terrorism financing, explosives marking, and the threat of nuclear terrorism.  Shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Security Council took even more forceful action, recognizing that terrorism would continue to pose a serious threat to international peace and security in the new millennium. It passed a comprehensive resolution outlining the next steps in the fight against terrorism. This resolution calls on all UN Member States, individually and collectively, to deny terrorist haven and financial support, and to work together to bring them to justice. Following Security Council resolutions focused more on prevention, noting, for example, that extremists were using the Internet to recruit people and incite terrorist acts. The Council began to emphasize the importance of counter-terrorism measures that are consistent with states’ international legal obligations, including human rights law. A comprehensive anti-terrorism response Over the last decade, the United Nations has built on previous experience to assist states in adapting to an evolving threat that frequently involves new technologies. Although I believe we are on the right track, much more progress must be made at the national, regional, and international levels. Individual countries have made significant progress, but success is measured in relative terms, and significant disparities remain. While some countries can spend billions of dollars to combat terrorism, others struggle to implement even the most basic measures required to protect their borders and bring terrorists to justice. When a large proportion of a country’s population is impoverished, it is unsurprising that scarce resources are directed toward development rather than counter-terrorism. We recognize this and frequently propose approaches that protect the country’s economic and developmental interests while also enhancing its security. To be honest, preventing terrorist attacks is a challenge for everyone, even for countries with abundant resources and skilled personnel. Most nations’ implementation of the long list of measures envisioned by Security Council resolutions and the Global Strategy will be patchy at best. The current scenario in the USA Today, the United States is less vulnerable to foreign terrorist attacks at home, but it faces increased domestic terrorist threats. America’s global efforts to promote freedom and democratic governance have failed. Since 2005, global freedom has stagnated and deteriorated, and the significant stresses on America’s democratic system have increased dramatically. The strategic ledger that accounts for 21 years of work is decidedly mixed. There have been undeniable gains and signs of progress, but they have come at a high price and have frequently spawned new challenges. There are, however, lessons to be drawn as the United States considers a national security strategy for the next two decades Gains and indicators of progress Since the September 11, 2001 attacks, the United States has made significant progress in securing the country from terrorism. Nonetheless, work continues as the country’s terrorist threats have evolved over the last ten years and continue to change. Following 9/11, the federal government acted quickly to create a security framework to protect the country from large-scale attacks directed from abroad, while also strengthening federal, state, and local capabilities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from domestic threats and disasters. • The United States is less vulnerable to threats from foreign terrorist networks The 9/11 attacks killed 2,977 people, the highest single death toll from a foreign attack on America. Since then, 107 Americans have died as a result of Salafi-jihadi terrorist attacks in the United States. Following 9/11, no other major foreign terrorist attacks occurred within the United States. This is the result of several lines of work. The United States established new agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, the Directorate of National Intelligence, and the National Counterterrorism Center. It also significantly increased resources for intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Furthermore, to restore trust in air travel, the United States implemented new security procedures. It developed new military and intelligence capabilities that aided in the thwarting of numerous plots and the capture of terrorist operatives and leaders, most notably Osama Bin Laden in 2011. The United States significantly increased its capacity to track and disrupt terror finance networks, and it adapted its approaches to counter terror threats in the cyber realm, staying ahead of rapidly changing technologies. US military and intelligence agencies formed or strengthened counterterrorism partnerships around the world, allowing the US to accomplish more than it could on
