The Indian cricket team is renowned for its exceptional talent, resilience, and sportsmanship. Such brilliance gave the team not once but twice a year to play World Cup final. With a rich legacy and a bright future, they will continue to inspire millions of cricket enthusiasts worldwide. With such hope, the speculations favor India to win the T20 World Cup 2024 as they are a much stronger team than South Africa.
However, South Africa is trying to make history otherwise. Aiden Markram, South Africa captain, says they can win from any position against India. “Our team is heading in the right direction and the final is a nice opportunity to end the World Cup agony once and for all.”
In their last match with Afghanistan, Markam said “Probably I just see it as a new game of cricket, to be honest. We all know India’s a great team. Us as a team, as South Africans, have been sort of trending in the right direction the last couple of years, but maybe not progressed in tournaments as far as we would have liked.”
“So, an exciting occasion tomorrow against a good opposition in India, but a nice opportunity for us as the Proteas as well.”
South Africa’s First Men’s World Cup
Aiden Markram is the first South Africa captain to lead his team to a men’s World Cup final. Under his captaincy, they’ve won eight out of eight matches but also acknowledges that a lot of them were narrow victories. He believes they’ve evolved in the last two years and they’re confident to win the final as well.
“There have been close moments in games that would have probably affected the result and we managed to win those moments,” Markam said. “To have done them two, three, maybe four times throughout the competition so far has sort of given the team the belief that you can win from any position, which I think is quite important for a team to have that.”
India, the Undisputed Yet Hopefull
This is the second time in the last seven months, that India is gearing up for the World Cup. It was unfortunate to see the Indian team lose the ICC World Cup after being undisputed in 10 matches. Hopeful again, the whole country is praying for team India to win the T20 World Cup 2024. The South Africa vs India clash will take in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday.
Indian cricket fans are worried about Virat Kohli’s form as they’re disappointed with the runs the star batter has scored for the tournament. However, Rohit Sharma, Indian captain backed Kohli when he was asked about his form.
“He’s a quality player. Any player can go through that. We do understand his class and his importance in all these big games. Form is never a problem because when you’ve played cricket for 15 years, it isn’t a problem. He is looking good, the intent is there. He’s probably saving for the finals,” Rohit told Michael Atherton in the post-match interview.
The finale will be so tight and interesting to watch as both India and South Africa teams have one thing in common: they have been unbeaten at T20 World Cup 2024.
