Chromium-Based Browsers May Exploit With Dangerous Zero-Day Hack

Hacking attacks and exploits are a constant game of cat and mouse between developers and hackers. With over 3 billion users, Chrome/Chromium is the most targeted software in the world today. Google also confirmed that the number of Zero-day attacks is increasing.

    What is a Zero-day Attack?

With that in mind, Google issued a warning on its official blog, that Chrome on Windows, macOS, and Linux is vulnerable to a new ‘zero-day’ hack. Zero-day attack is a dangerous form of attack, which means hackers are aware of the vulnerability before Google can fix the problem. Chromium’s V8 program is responsible for running java scripts which means if the attackers found any vulnerability they could place any background software as they want.

“Google is aware that an exploit for CVE-2022-1096 exists in the wild, this means every chrome user is vulnerable” admitted Google.

    Is Microsoft Edge Remain Safe?

Microsoft Edge is a chromium-based browser and since the vulnerability issued on Chromium open-source software, Edge is running on warning too. Microsoft is also aware of that and rolled out a new emergency update on its Security Center. That confirms all Chromium-based browsers on the risk list such as Amazon Silk, Brave, Opera, Samsung Internet.

Google currently limits information about exploits so that users take the time to update and ask users to update chrome version 99.0.4844.84. At the time of publishing this report, all companies marked the threat as ”High”.

    High: CVE-2022-1096 Confusion in V8

Google has admitted there were 16 Zero-day attacks performed in 2021 alone and also revealed 12th and 13th caused so much damage. With the concern around the security exploitations, the US cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency ordered all federal agencies to patch immediately. All Chromium-based companies are following Google’s lead and rolling out emergency updates.

  • Namya Mahajan, A Nonprofit Entrepreneur Eased Preschool Learning to 800K Students

Namya Mahajan, A Nonprofit Entrepreneur Eased Preschool Learning to 800K Students

India is a growing country with a population of over 140 cr., the middle-class family child got peers before the first day of school due to a lack of preschools for mass. To solve this complex problem a nonprofit entrepreneur and founder Namya Mahajan came up with an Edtech solution, Rocket Learning. Namya’s Rocket Learning has already eased 800K child’s preschool learning issues in the past two years.

Namya Mahajan said“We’re focused on early childhood education, an area of the huge need in India. More than 70% of preschoolers in India receive no education at all before grade one. As you can imagine, the consequences are dire. Cognitive stimulation for 3 to 6-year-olds does so much more than prepare children for school.”

How does Rocket Learning bridge the learning gap?

After Mukesh Ambani’s jio hits, India has become online in almost every sector, now most people are aware and use a smartphone in their households. Rocket Learning is also aware of that scenario that’s why they use WhatsApp to meet parents and give them tasks. With the given task information any education level parent could work on with their child. After the task has been done Rocket Learning makes a report card according to the tasks and performance. With the report card in hand, parents feel more helpful and children are also used up with this method. Eventually, the issue of the preschool learning gap decreases.

Why does Namya Mahajan choose the non-profit model of business?

Rocket Learning was created with the belief that education is a fundamental right of every human being and with the Non-profit business model fulfilling that belief is easy. It would give space to giving solutions to needy parents. Since Rocket learning is tech-prioritized, scaling the solution is also very easy.

    About Namya Mahajan

After pursuing an MBA from the Harvard school of business, she used to be the managing director of the Self-Employed Women’s Cooperative Federation (SEWA). SEWA supports more than 100 women’s cooperatives in the informal economy. Before that, she worked at McKinsey and Company as a management consultant. Soon after graduation, she Co-founded Rocket Learning.

  • Is “Virtual RAM” a New Gimmick to Increase Smartphone Sales?

Is “Virtual RAM” a New Gimmick to Increase Smartphone Sales?

In recent years, the smartphone market has grown much faster where companies release new phones day after day with new marketing strategies and features. Some of the features are groundbreaking, some are making no sense and some literal gimmick means they work but not as the company shows.

    Truth to The Gimmick

In recent times, the term “V-RAM” or “Virtual RAM,” company uses as their main highlight depicting that they could increase significant performance boost in mobile gaming but in reality that’s not true!. V-RAM uses an SD card or internal memory space as RAM for better temporarily storing background apps data for launching fast and giving a fast experience for only browsing or app launching speed. But the company charges extra money and says V-RAM is a new technology, increasing your phone RAM gives extra benefit in gaming FPS but in reality, this technology is way old from the era of rooting and custom ROMs.

This virtual RAM technology has a bad effect on your smartphone also. It uses your phone’s state drive space and this drive has a limited read-write speed and lifespan. By using virtual ram excessively it can cause a decrease in the speed of read-write speed and lifespan.

    Is it Worthy?

Are we giving extra money for V-RAM? Is it worth it to pay extra money?

In my opinion, if you change your smartphone very often you don’t have to rely on virtual ram. But if you use your smartphones for more than 3 years go for a smartphone that has this feature but turn on the feature after using it for 2 years.

And also if you use a very old smartphone that doesn’t come with this feature you could manually turn it on or for better knowledge watch some youtube tutorials.

Elon Musk Thinks A.I. is Lethal But Wants to Implant It in Our Brain

The world’s most rich people Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and Neuralink and owner of Tesla Motors who has been averse to artificial technologies now wants us to connect to it with its Neuralink chip.

Neuralink Corporation is a neurotechnological company co-founded by Elon Musk. The company aims to create a computer chip that can help and treat a brain disease patient and the eventual goal of human enhancement.

In an interview, Musk said “A.I is more dangerous than nukes” and also visualized that we are very close to the general use of artificial intelligence. What type of Contradiction is this?

In Musk’s words, “if we can’t beat it, we should join it.”

The chip is implanted into our skull with hundreds of electrodes to connect us to the A.I and the internet. Everything seems great, no? But some people have had a nightmare about it. They think the chip could control us. Hypothetically, Musk or the govt could control us and do what they want, hack or reprogram. If that’s true it would be very serious security and privacy theft and left unproven. So for now if you want to avoid it, avoid it.

Congratulations to them. In recent news they claim it to be successfully tested on a pig and it’s been fine. Now, they are hoping to test on humans in 2022. For now, it’s a great aid for those patients who had brain diseases like Parkinson’s and Other Movement Disorders. But in near future, they are planning for human enhancement which means connecting your brain to the internet and Artificial intelligence.

  • Why Apple Watch is Called a Life-Saving Gadget?

Why Apple Watch is Called a Life-Saving Gadget?

Can a watch save your life? Yes, if it is an Apple watch.

Smartwatches are the second-most commonly used gadget after smartphones. The watch that is saving lives lately is Apple’s smartwatch. Internet is full of stories of people who are alive because of the watch which tends to make a curious angle, what is so special and unique that makes apple watch so liable compared to other smartwatch brands.

    It’s a Health-Gear

Apple Watch is a high-tech gadget coupled with powerful apps. These apps encourage users to live a healthy lifestyle, the app runs in the background for basic regular checkups whether the user is active or inactive. It notifies early symptoms and alerts the user for a medical checkup. The app summarises the collected valuable data with date and time which helps the doctor to diagnose the disease.

Apple watch has three sensors; optical heart sensor, an electrical heart sensor/electrode, and Next-generation accelerometer and a gyroscope sensor.

Optical heart sensor uses Photoplethysmography (PPG) that checks up heartbeat per minute(BPM). An average BPM of an adult is 60 to 100, this sensor monitors bpm and alerts the user in case of high, low, or irregular heart rate.

A 24-year-old man Adam Love from Australia was alerted by his Apple Watch that his heart rate during sleep was hitting 140 beats per minute (bpm). It was then when Love decided to visit a doctor and it turned out that he had a hole in his heart since birth that went undetected for 24 years. After a full medical examination, doctors found a serious lung condition in which his blood was found circulating in the right atrium instead of the left side. He went through surgery and recovered in 3 weeks.

Electrical heart sensor/electrode is one of the three sensors that monitor electrocardiogram (ECG) electrical pulses generated from the user’s heart.

The sensor can classify atrial fibrillation and sinus rhythm but is unable to identify other conditions, like heart attacks.

For an instance Ed Dentel, a 46-year-old resident of Richmond, Virginia as soon as he updated his watch with the ECG app the watch started annoying him with Afib notifications and alerts. His heart was beating between 120bpm to 140bpm. Later on, he decided to pay a visit, feeling embarrassed Dentel shared that his watch was giving alerts after updates. A technician hooked Dentel to an ECG machine. Normally, it takes time to observe the reports and say something. He called the doctor and the doctor said, “You’re in AFib and the watch may have just saved your life”.

Next-generation accelerometer and a gyroscope sensor for fall detection. The apple watch detects a hard fall it starts vibrating with alarm sound and displays alerts. If the user is conscious he/she has two options to contact emergency services or to stop the alerts by tapping on ‘I’m OK’ or pressing the digital crown. If Apple Watch detects that the user is still moving, it waits for the user to respond to alerts and won’t call emergency so until and unless the user is immobile for a minute it calls automatically.

After the call ends which means it is unanswered as the user is immobile, the watch sends a message to emergency contacts with the exact location.

Toralv Østvang, a 67-year old living in Norway was saved because of this feature in the apple watch. He fell in the bathroom, local emergency service got the message along with the location. Later on, after 30 mins rescue team arrived to save Toralv. He was unconscious and covered with blood but alive.

The bottom line is do you still think it is not worth it to buy a smartwatch.

    Natasha Makhijani: Acing Successful Recruitment

Oliver Sanderson Group makes the recruitment process easier for businesses, so they can engage and develop a long-lasting working environment. With the help of technology, from creating a resume database to deploying employees to prominent companies, Natasha is excelling in the recruitment field.

We at Fortunes Crown got into conversation with Natasha Makhijani, the CEO of Oliver Sanderson Group, to know more about the company and how it is helping the businesses as a whole.

Below are the highlights of the interview:

Please brief us in detail about the current scenario of the business. How have the customer preferences changed over the years?

The executive search industry is changing in a number of ways, and this is reflected in the evolving preferences of our clients. There is now a greater focus on EDI challenges. We are seeing a growing recognition of the importance of inclusivity and the value of diversity, and clients come to us to tackle their EDI challenges, reach out to under-represented groups, and achieve more diversity in their boardroom and senior leadership teams. Digitalization is also transforming the industry, changing the way we advertise roles, discover candidates, and engage with our community. Finally, recruitment companies are increasingly aware of issues around sustainability and the environmental impact of our work. We are taking steps to minimize our impact and operate more sustainably and more responsibly as a business.

Could you please walk us through your educational/professional journey? What was the moment that triggered you to step into the business?

I, Natasha Makhijani, am not your average headhunter. As CEO of Oliver Sanderson Group, I am pioneering new approaches to executive search through tech innovations and D&I initiatives, all while breaking down barriers as an Asian woman business leader.

After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from City, University of London and a Master’s from DePaul University in Chicago, I began my recruitment career on the Graduate Scheme at Hays in 2000. Fast-tracked into management roles, I achieved four promotions in four years and took a team from billing £10,000 to £80,000 a month. From Hays, I moved to Michael Page, and quickly gained recognition as a “super biller”. But I always felt that there was another path for my career, and having set up executive desks at both Hays and Michael Page, I set my sights on establishing a business of my own.

I founded Oliver Sanderson as a start-up in 2011 and have since grown the firm into an international business at the cutting edge of executive search. Oliver Sanderson has built up a strong track record in recent years, having placed CEOs and senior leaders at FTSE 100, FTSE 350, and Fortune 500 companies. Specializing in both permanent and interim executive placements across a wide range of sectors, the firm provides clients with an end-to-end executive search process, drawing from the experience and creativity of its research team to solve complex recruitment challenges.

New technology has been central to Oliver Sanderson’s rapid growth, and I am a pioneer of digital innovations in executive search and recruitment. I co-founded Snapp Resume, the world’s first mobile job board with voice technology capability and Amazon Alexa connectivity. The app currently has a database of over 25 million candidates in the UK and the USA, with over 250,000 positions listed on its mobile job board.

My forward-thinking leadership was recognized with a CEO Today Global Award 2021. I appeared in the winner’s magazine in February 2021 alongside some of the world’s most inspiring executives in a feature story on her journey and achievements. I have recently been shortlisted for the prestigious Recruiter Awards 2021 in the category of Agency Recruitment Leader of the Year.

Under Makhijani’s leadership, Oliver Sanderson is poised to remain at the forefront of an evolving industry.

When was Oliver Sanderson Group established? What are the prominent services/solutions offered by the company?

Established in 2011, Oliver Sanderson is an executive search firm with a difference, combining experience and expertise with innovation and fresh thinking. We specialize in finding permanent and interim talent at the board and senior leadership levels for FTSE 100, FTSE 350, Fortune 500, and PE-backed businesses. With our suite of digital recruitment apps and our award-winning diversity and inclusion work, we are leading the way in discovering the next generation of business leaders.

What measures do you incorporate to ensure motivation and productivity within the workspace? How do you respond to criticism and disagreements?

I focus on keeping my team motivated by challenging, supporting, and inspiring them. At Oliver Sanderson, no two weeks are ever the same – we are always working on new roles with new organizations, and making new connections and relationships with candidates. It is this aspect of our work that ensures that we are constantly learning, keeping the working week fresh and challenging. We set monthly and annual targets to hit for our team across a number of areas, from sales to social media engagement. But we also support each other, understanding that growth isn’t always linear, and we sometimes learn more from failure than from success. Dialogue is crucial – daily conversations, feedback and brainstorming sessions. These help us stay connected and supported together, constantly learning, and constantly striving to improve as individuals and as a team.

What was/is your response to the current unprecedented situation?

The global pandemic has had a major impact on our daily business operations, but we have managed to survive and thrive since the first lockdown. Our firm has had to adapt to meet new challenges, becoming more flexible in our delivery models. The Oliver Sanderson Executive app has enabled the team to make an effective transition to remote working, with the digital platform offering video interviewing to substitute for the face-to-face meetings made impossible under lockdown. Our apps helped candidates engage with the job market at a time of unprecedented difficulty and uncertainty, and we received exceptionally positive feedback about our contribution to the economic recovery. Thanks to our flexibility, we have managed to grow our revenue and expand our team, and we look forward to a brighter future as corporations and wider society begin to rebuild.

What are the services/solutions we should anticipate from Oliver Sanderson Group in the near future?

Our digital recruitment solutions set us apart from the competition and pioneer a new direction for the industry. Snapp is a software platform designed and created by Oliver Sanderson. This suite of digital recruitment apps offers a pioneering mobile job board and integrated video interviewing options.

Co-founded by me, Snapp is a first-in-class mobile job board providing digital solutions at every stage of the recruitment process. Featuring a voice technology-enabled search function, introductory candidate and client profile videos, integrated job applications, and a video interviewing tool, Snapp unlocks a new world of talent, connecting great people with great jobs all around the world. Our tagline – “From application to placement, all in a SNAPP!” – highlights the speed and simplicity of the platform.

Snapp currently has a database of over 25 million candidates in the UK and the USA, with over 250,000 positions listed on its mobile job board, while Snapp InView has processed over 1,500 interviews. Our exclusive integration partnership with Amazon Alexa provides Snapp with access to over 100 million devices, including (as of March 2021) every Smart TV. Snapp powers Amazon Alexa’s ‘Find me a Job’ skill, and currently has over 25 million candidates registered in the UK and the USA, with over 250,000 positions listed on its mobile job board.

Oliver Sanderson harnesses the power of its Snapp suite of digital recruitment apps to discover the next generation of business leaders.

As a decorated leader, what would be your piece of advice for entrepreneurs seeking careers in the business?

Always remember, doubts and setbacks are part of everyone’s journey – the road to the top is never simple! So be resilient, and never give up. I have been doubted in the past, but I used those doubts as fuel to fire me onto greater successes. Whoever you are, wherever you come from – with hard work, a bit of luck, and a good team around you, you can do it too!

  • How Russia’s Theft Legality Will Cost Unfriendly Nations?

How Russia’s Theft Legality Will Cost Unfriendly Nations?

After President Vladimir Putin bombarded Ukraine, Russia is increasingly isolated from the western world. The United States, EU member countries, and others recently launched sanctions against Russia and issued trade restrictions. Russia currently meets its supply and demand needs in agriculture, energy, and natural resources. However, Russia’s isolation and growing shortage of skilled manufacturers has led to the fusion of technological manufacturing and innovation.

Major companies have shut down services in the country either partially or entirely including PayPal, TikTok, Netflix, Spotify, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Apple, Zara, Coca-Cola, etc.

In response, Russian officials issued an executive order that could authorize intellectual property (IP) theft legally. Russian companies can now officially violate the intellectual property rights of the list of countries including the United States, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, and the 27  European Union (EU) member countries.

    What’s on this Russian Decree?

Unsurprisingly, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin of Russia has signed a decree introducing significant changes to the compensation structure for companies that use or produce inventions without the inventor’s consent. Patent holders receive 0% of production profits sale and use of their inventions by Russian companies.

Patent infringements will have a devastating impact on Western companies and inventors, as Russian companies can now replicate inventions and use patented material without consequences. Above all, this means that Russian companies can access publicly available patent databases and monitor patents to boost the production of pinch technology. This could result in a loss of Western trade efforts, as the proposed measures would completely mitigate the current supply chain disruption.

As highlighted in a TASS report, such measures would “mitigate the impact on the market of supply chain brakes as well as shortages of goods and services that have arisen due to new sanctions of western countries.”

Stealing patent is one side and piracy is another i.e., if one user or individual uses pirated windows on their PC, in that case, he/she could use the paid software for free (Piracy) but couldn’t claim the software is his/her (stealing patent).

    What will be the impacts?

The impact of piracy and intellectual property theft on Western businesses and economies may not be felt immediately, because Russia cannot increase its technological production in the short term, but the effects will become evident over time. Russian companies are likely to take advantage of the IP infringement opportunity to piracy and continue to violate the rights of patent holders even as global tensions ease.

Due to the lack of skilled labor and technological innovators, the transition to technological innovation will not be easy for Russia. Therefore, Russian companies will most likely pay external contractors and skilled personnel from Eastern European and Asian countries to fill this void. There is a great financial incentive for them to move to Russia to properly use their skills and improve their quality of life.

    What’s now?

As tensions between the West and Russia increase and new decrees come into force every day, it will be interesting to see how Russian companies use this opportunity to legalize IP infringement and piracy, and how American companies react. One thing is certain: Russia’s activities have violated international rights and continue to do, soon or later Russia will become the world leader in intellectual property theft.

Why many countries have started supporting Russia?

Some of the countries that support Russia are Belarus, Pakistan, China, Syria, India, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, etc. Some argue “Russia has right to defend itself” and a few keep mute.

Throughout Cold War, several countries had a robust relationship with Russia, and when the collapse of the USSR happened, friendly countries had taken a massive market of Russian arms. Throughout the 19’s Russia was been a huge exporter of iron, steel, and mineral Fuels & oil. After the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, friendly counties expected to be in fuel and iron crisis, and for inevitable purposes allied and friendly countries decided to stay silent about the conflict.
