This TikToker Found That Salt Can Help Keep Your Computers Cool

As computers become more intensive, so does the hardware. However, one source of contention for all extreme computer users (including pocket-sized cellphones) is cooling! All units must operate at the appropriate temperature – 40-65 degrees Celsius – to extend the life of your system and keep everything working.

When it comes to thermal interface material, hardware enthusiasts have many options. Options are available in a wide range of price and performance categories, with solutions varied in terms of simplicity of use, electrical conductivity, and material composition.

In general, I believe most people will use a mid-grade paste and won’t think twice about it after installation. Unlocking every performance advantage is part of the pleasure for others. Mryeester, a TikTok user, fits neatly into the latter type.

    Who Is Mryeester?

The developer of the material is well-known for performing bizarre experiments with computer hardware. Most are blunders, such as using orange juice instead of water in a liquid cooling loop or stacking numerous fans on top of each other, but things do become intriguing every now and again.

    “Successful” experiments of Myreester

Mryeester has had much more failures than successes. He attempted molding thermal paste into a box on the IHS of a CPU to test how terrible the spread would be but discovered that the thermal paste only extended to the CPU’s outside borders, leaving the middle area unaffected. This would be a poor application for Intel chips, at least, because the CPU die sits exactly in the center of the chip, making it particularly hot owing to the absence of direct thermal paste contact right on top of it.

However, adjusting the location of your paste is still preferable to having none at all. Because the primary computation die and IO die are not in the center of the chip, there is a case to be made for employing this outer-edge technique with newer AMD Ryzen processors. However, a lack of coverage in the center would still result in higher temperatures – compared to having the entire IHS covered.

Mryeester didn’t necessarily aim for greater temperatures in his prior thermal paste movies, but he did strive to show unique paste locations and other chemicals. In one, he attempted to shape a Discord logo out of thermal paste right on the IHS, and this time the IHS was completely covered when the thermal paste was spread out. However, the discord form itself provided no benefit to the spread, as the spread was exactly equal throughout the whole IHS.

However, one of his trials outperformed standard thermal paste. Because salt has a better thermal conductivity than most thermal pastes on the market today, it was used in this experiment.

Mryeester began by experimenting with iodized salt and thermal paste to see what would happen. However, he was unsuccessful in his first attempt. But then he ground the salt into a fine powder and blended it with his thermal paste; astonishingly, this complex concoction worked. His CPU was only reaching 49 degrees Celsius with his standard thermal paste, but with the powdered salted combination, temperatures were reduced by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

    Is this experiment worth trying?

Mryeester observed that adding crushed salt to a generic TIM decreased CPU temps under load by a few degrees Celsius when testing other thermal paste compositions. Does this indicate you should remove your cooler and add in some salt chloride right away? No, most likely not.

If you’re hellbent on losing a few degrees, there are far safer ways to do the same thing.

Spending a few dollars on a high-quality TIM with a good conductivity value would undoubtedly help, as will improving your cooler (moving from an OEM cooler to a premium air cooler or AIO kit, for example). Others have had success experimenting with other application strategies. Another option is to improve ventilation in your case, maybe by better cable management or by upgrading to larger fans. Noctua is well-known for producing excellent case fans that are reasonably quiet.

Taking it a step further, reducing the voltage of your CPU can lessen the amount of heat created but may jeopardize system stability. If all else fails, turning the air conditioner down a few degrees will always do the work.

Metaverse To  Be A Gateway To Cybercrimes, Says Interpol

After its rocking presence in the gaming world, Metaverse got its huge break as “Meta” by Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg introduced a whole new world of possibilities through Meta. Web 3.0 has arrived, yet it is only in its infancy. We may anticipate a lot of new virtual worlds shortly as businesses start to embrace a fusion of our physical and digital reality.

Life in the metaverse has its dangers, even while exploring uncharted digital realms with snazzy equipment and sensors sounds like fun.

The metaverse has emerged over the past few years as significant businesses work to create a virtual future that includes augmented reality and virtual reality.

In the context of the virtual world, it alludes to the next-generation platforms that include our everyday lives and goes beyond e-commerce to have work, education, entertainment, socializing, and much more.

With Great Data Comes Great Threats

The amount of data being created and leaked will skyrocket as more and more users participate in activities in this metaverse. We are already dealing with zettabytes of data when you add the data from IoT smart devices, autonomous vehicles, always-on mobile phones, and virtual reality equipment.

    Megaverse of Dangers In Metaverse

The international police organization Interpol stated that it was ready for the possibility that online immersive settings, or the “metaverse,” might both invent new types of cybercrime and enable existing crime to be committed on a greater scale.

According to Madan Oberoi, Interpol’s executive director for technology and innovation, member nations have expressed worry about how to prepare for potential metaverse crime.

When augmented reality and virtual reality are included, fraud and phishing techniques may alter. He stated that concerns over child safety were also there.

In the actual world, virtual reality might make it easier to commit crimes.

Twitter Blue is No More Free, Have to Pay $8 per Month

After finally owning Twitter, it seems like he has taken on his mind to change almost everything about the micro-blogging platform. After changing and firing the entire employee base, Elon Musk has introduced another upgrade to the app, giving his employees an ultimatum. Twitter Blue is Elon’s upgraded way for people to have verified accounts. But there’s a catch- Twitter is planning to charge approximately $8 for the new Twitter Blue Subscription.

    What Is Twitter Blue?

In 2021, Twitter Blue was introduced, giving users exclusive access to premium features like the ability to edit, undo tweets, and have access to ad-free articles. According to the article, users would now have to subscribe to Twitter Blue in order to have a Twitter blue check.

    What’s So New About Blue?

When one comes across a tweet and observes the trademark Twitter blue check on it, it is deemed to be more authentic in terms of the information it is presenting. Your account must be well-known and active in order to be verified. Anyone can currently apply for Twitter Verification. The website divides well-known accounts into various categories.

Now, under the new rules and regulations, not only to-be verified accounts will have to pay an additional subscription fee of $8, the existing verified accounts have to as well. The users will have a 90-day period to either subscribe or lose their verification.

Through a recent tweet, Elon made it clear that he plans on completely revamping the verification process. Also, the fact that Elon has given an ultimatum for his employees to launch this feature by the first week of November, or they can pack up their stuff and leave.

What are your views on the hefty and rapid steps Elon Musk is taking after spending mere 3 days as the owner of Twitter?

  • Digital Transformation For The Long Haul In Transportation Sector

Digital Transformation For The Long Haul In Transportation Sector

With the world becoming more interconnected as a result of globalization, the transportation industry is under more pressure than ever to improve its services. Everyone requires a smooth, risk-free experience, whether they are moving casually or commuting for a job. Along with that, logistics organizations’ expectations have risen.

Transportation management is no longer about moving cargo at the lowest possible cost. Technology has advanced, and businesses have expanded. Transporters must improve their management and services to compete in the market due to the current complex supply chain structures and numerous components.

Traditional and long-standing transportation organizations, such as railroad companies, are not often associated with innovation and technology, but they are tech powerhouses that can be critical to the supply chain industry’s digital transformation. This industry, like many others, has been challenged by the Covid-19 pandemic but has been able to pivot and adapt quickly. Technology will pave the way for us to not only survive but thrive in the face of any disruption.

    Digitization in the Transportation Industry

In the short term, the transportation industry’s digitization will be focused on four areas: process optimization and automation, supplier management and spend optimization, personnel management, and network design.

    1. Process Optimization– Any process that can be automated and digitalized qualifies for process optimization. Real-time fleet management and predictive maintenance planning are two good examples.
    1. Supplier management and spend optimization– Advanced spend intelligence, category analytics, and end-to-end sourcing are all part of supplier management and spend optimization.
    1. Workforce management process– People management occurs throughout the workforce management process, including predictive demand forecasting for field employees, automated shift and job allocation for maintenance crews, and digital performance management tools.
    1. Network strategy- Advanced simulations and data-driven timetabling are keys to network strategy.

How to achieve Digital transformation in the Transportation Industry?

Companies must focus on four important pillars in the present climate for digital transformation to occur: people, processes, technology, and security. In many organizations, adopting tools such as a TMS (Transportation Management System) often becomes a core part of this shift, as it can streamline operations and support data-driven decision-making. Furthermore, technology executives should adopt “tech-forward” thinking, implementation, and delivery. We must rapidly transition to an agile culture in which we produce quickly and iteratively, create differentiating competencies (and acquire the rest), maintain a laser focus on the client, and guarantee that our people remain motivated and productive.

    1. People: Your employees are the driving force behind this shift. It’s all about cultivating an inclusive and trusting culture in which businesses build a high-performance atmosphere, engaged teams that have fun, deliver, and learn, and leaders that manage with both their IQ and EQ.
    1. Processes: Process transformation entails changing from a project-oriented mindset to a customer-centric and continuous delivery product organization. What embrace together is a changing product and a growth attitude, which positions us for success by improving the customer experience.
    1. Technology: The transformation’s technology component should focus on establishing a solid data foundation (data = digital oil) in order to provide useful business insights. Platforms must be dynamic and capable of smoothly connecting to ecosystems, including supply chain partners and customers. To accelerate speed to market, the infrastructure should be upgraded while using cloud and SaaS solutions as much as feasible.
    1. Security: Last but not least, to address the growing threat of cyberattacks and allow the adoption of SaaS and cloud technologies, everything must be created and implemented with a secure attitude.

Legacy firms may supply sophisticated tools and technologies with this basis in place.

The transportation industry keeps getting more and more exciting with constant technological upgrades, advancements, and developments. Dana Achartz, the Director of Safety for Commercial Transport Inc also believes that all these advancements have a common aim which is to keep the drivers, the motoring public, and nationwide roadways safer. It is an accident-prone world out there and everyone from the drivers to the passengers to their families values their lives.

Under new developments, the company hopes to take part in these upgrades. CTI finds these developments incredibly exciting. They also hope that everyone out there should have access to them and rejoice in them collectively.

Trends to Watch Out for in the coming years

    • Adoption of Cloud-Based Systems

Cloud-based system adoption is one of the most significant transport sector developments because cloud platforms compel a software-as-a-service (SaaS) paradigm, which offers up limitless options for enterprises’ scalability and inventive digital resource utilization. It enables increased profitability and outperforms the typical returns of on-premise system capabilities. SaaS facilitates the implementation of efficiency and cost-savings across all corporate departments, including sales and marketing, finance, legal, and others

    • Automation of Robotic Processes

Using manual and archaic methods in fulfillment centers to meet the delivery needs of modern clients is no longer adequate. Organizations striving to meet the ever-increasing number of client orders will need to adopt robotic process automation at every stage of the fulfillment process, as well as develop solutions that assist optimize and expanding warehouse and distribution center capabilities. When used in warehouses, robotic process automation will enable enterprises to drive total supply chain automation. Using contemporary machine learning algorithms, such automation will aid in the elimination of manual chores, the improvement of order management, the improvement of after-sales support, and the alleviation of labor shortages, all while improving customer experience and allowing company agility.

    • Sustainability Driven by IoT

Although IoT has long been associated with the logistics sector, in 2021, the technology will help deliver on the promise of sustainability – and set the road for long-term social and economic prosperity. IoT-driven innovations will enable enterprises to unleash new value while increasing control over their supply chains. From reducing waste to increasing energy efficiency, IoT will enable businesses to act on real-time data and enhance decision-making across energy optimization, customer experience, and the supply chain

    • Frictionless, Integrated Travel

The emergence of mobility-as-a-service has mostly shown the need to make travel more pleasant and hassle-free (MaaS).

However, the combination of a number of critical transportation movements in the business, all focused on minimizing stoppages or checkpoints, results in this one major shift to integrated travel and transportation. Minor trends include infrastructure optimization, the development of mobility hubs for multimodal transportation, the construction of platforms for ticketless travel, and the introduction of innovations in micromobility and last-mile connectivity

    • GPS Visibility and Anti-Theft

Although E-Commerce, retail, and logistics organizations are focusing on improved visibility, monitoring technology adoption and adaptation for increased traceability are among the primary driving themes in the transportation sector this year. Anti-theft GPS, for example, is a method of receiving near-real-time positions for large fleets and individual goods in transit. The additional security standards will also aid in the prevention of losses across the board.

  • Amusement Park Triggers iPhone 14 Crash Detection Software

Amusement Park Triggers iPhone 14 Crash Detection Software

Panicked Sent Multiple Emergency Alert To 911

The new iPhone 14 is packed with a variety of advanced features. Every technological update focuses on making it more interactive and functional. But in the end, we all should understand that they are artificial intelligence, not human intelligence. Backing up this logic is a recent incident in the U.S. 911 received an alert about a major car crash, only to later find out it was just a woman enjoying her time on a roller coaster ride with her iPhone 14 in her pocket.

    The Feature

The recently launched iPhone 14  by Apple comes with some new features. One of them is Crash Detection. The always-on feature will send alerts to safety authorities when it detects a hazard or mishap.

When the phone detects an accident, it displays a warning that it is dialing 911 and provides a 20-second countdown to turn off the warning if it was generated in error.

    The Alert

911 received an automated set message saying “The owner of this iPhone was in a severe car crash” with the location. The AI system even recorded background audio and because it was a roller coaster, it was filled with screams.

When officials analyzed the location, they found nothing suspicious or alarming. The team was then approached by the owner of the iPhone 14 who realized this mess. She assured them that she is okay, and hilariously so, added that she didn’t visit the “bumping cars” yet for a car crash.

    From Apple

Apple hasn’t officially made a statement about this at all. The crash detection capability should be simpler to enable or disable. Adding a shortcut toggle to the control center could be a solution.

Now looking at this situation, there can be two interpretations-

One is that the iPhone feature is unreliable as it is not able to detect actual accidents and can be fooled in such situations.

Two is that the feature is sensitive enough to detect every disturbance and change. Users can trust this feature with detecting huge accidents and sending SOS alerts.

So the choice is yours, how and what to choose!

  • “Optimus” The Humanoid Robot Enters In Style At Tesla’s AI Day

“Optimus” The Humanoid Robot Enters In Style At Tesla’s AI Day

Elon Musk is a name that showcases intelligence, brilliance, and innovation. Being the CEO of Tesla, he has achieved great heights- Twitter, humanoids, car models, and more. At Tesla’s AI Day, Elon Musk recently unveiled his much-awaited humanoid robot “Optimus.”

The humanoid robot entered the stage with the style of a movie star. Dancing around and owning the stage. The prototype entered the stage and waved to the spectators sitting in their seats. Further, the robot was seen in a video moving metal bars, carrying a box, and watering plants in the automaker’s factory.

Our goal is to make a useful humanoid robot as quickly as possible,” Musk said. “There’s still a lot of work to be done to refine Optimus and prove it.”

    “Optimus” But, Prime?

Musk claimed that current humanoid robots were “missing a brain,” lacking the capacity to independently navigate the world. They were also incredibly expensive and produced in small quantities.

In contrast, he claimed, Optimus would be a “highly capable robot” that will be in production eventually in millions of units, on a higher level, and for less than $20,000, making it much less expensive than a car.

“There’s so much about what people can do dexterously that’s very, very hard for robots. And that’s not going to change whether the robot is a robot arm or whether it’s in the shape of a humanoid,” Jonathan Hurst, Chief Technology Officer.

    Recent Developments

Elon Musk will also provide updates on Tesla’s Dojo high-speed computer, which was announced last year and is going to be crucial to the company’s efforts to create self-driving technology, at the event on Friday.

According to Musk, Tesla should accomplish fully autonomous driving this year and mass-produce a robotaxi without a steering wheel or pedal by 2024.

  • UK May Impose a £27 Million Fine On TikTok For Children Privacy Breach

UK May Impose a £27 Million Fine On TikTok For Children Privacy Breach

Tiktok is one of the most popular video-posting apps right now. The app is widely used both privately and professionally, by celebrities, companies, to teenagers. The app has 1 billion users worldwide. Of those, around 62% of its users are between 10 and 29.

But are the young users and the constant content being posted on the app safe?

The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) claims the video-sharing platform has inappropriately processed the data of those under-13s without consent. The breach is said to have been processed for more than two years from May 2018 until July 2020.

TikTok Inc. and Information Technologies UK Limited have received a “notice of intent” from the ICO, a legal document that comes before a potential penalty.

    Information Commissioner John Edwards said:

“We all want children to be able to learn and experience the digital world, but with proper data privacy protections. Companies providing digital services have a legal duty to put those protections in place, but our provisional view is that TikTok fell short of meeting that requirement.”

According to ICO’s investigation, the platform was found to have-

    • processed the data of children under the age of 13 without appropriate parental consent
    • failed to provide proper information to its users in a concise, transparent, and easily understood way
    • processed special category data, without legal grounds to do so

    TikTok and Privacy

TikTok has implemented a range of measures to improve user privacy and security, such as letting parents link their accounts to their kids and banning direct messaging for users under the age of 16.

Recent privacy policy updates revealed that the app might collect biometric information “including faceprints and voiceprints.” While this is already quite scary and concerning, the app said the data is collected for them to enable special video effects, content moderation, and ad recommendations.

  • Space Telescopes Hubble And James Webb Releases Images of DART Asteroid Strike

Space Telescopes Hubble And James Webb Releases Images of DART Asteroid Strike

The James Webb and Hubble telescopes on Thursday revealed their initial images of a spacecraft deliberately crashing into an asteroid, marking the first time the two most powerful space telescopes have observed the same celestial object.

Telescopes around the world turned their gaze towards the space rock Dimorphos earlier this week for a historic test of Earth’s ability to defend itself against a potential future life-threatening asteroid.

On Monday night, 11 million kilometers (6.8 million miles) from Earth, NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) impactor slammed into its pyramid-shaped target to the joy of astronomers.

Following the impact, a massive cloud of dust was seen expanding out of Dimorphos and its larger brother Didymos, which it orbits, in images captured by telescopes positioned on Earth.

While those images showed matter spraying out over thousands of kilometers, the James Webb and Hubble images “zoom in much closer”, said Alan Fitzsimmons, an astronomer at Queen’s University Belfast involved in observations with the ATLAS project.

Terrifying Yet Beautiful Visuals From Space

James Webb’s images were shown in red because the telescope operates primarily in the infrared spectrum, which allows it to peer further into the universe than ever before.

The images from Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 were blue because it shows the impact on visible light.

Hubble images from 22 minutes, 5 hours, and 8.2 hours after impact show the expanding spray of matter from where DART hit on the asteroid’s left.

The accurate measure of DART’s success will be exactly how much it diverted the asteroid’s trajectory, so the world can start preparing to defend itself against more giant asteroids that could head our way in the future.

“The problem we have at the moment is that there’s still a lot of dust and debris around the asteroids… How quickly astronomers can make that measurement will depend on exactly how efficient DART was,” said Fitzsimmons
